If so, how do you make it work with the huge cost of living? I’m 24M starting a new career but the entry level salary is only $42,500.
Hey everyone 👋🏻, I’ve been lurking for a while but I just wanted some advice. I’m 24M in a HCOL area. I’ve been going to school for my certification and working retail in the meantime. I just landed a job offer for a smaller firm in my area as a legal assistant. While I’m absolutely thrilled, I am a little concerned due to the cost of living in my area. They are paying $42.5k/year and offer benefits. Schedule is 9-6 with Fridays ending a bit earlier. They have opportunities for advancement as well.
This is my first time working in a law firm, I eventually want to level up to a Paralegal.
Am I being underpaid or is this industry standard? While I still live at home, I don’t see myself being able to live independently for a while if the starting pay is this low.
