Has anyone received a red light ticket captured on camera but it was wrong? I was at a four way intersection with lights on all sides. Light allowed me to make a left turn while the lights for cars going straight were red. But the camera only captured my car and the red lights (cut out the green left turning light) hence cited me a violation. I've taken this turn many many many times and I know for sure I did not run a red. There were also multiple cars making a left in front of me in the video. Do I need to contest the violation by appealing in court or can I call customer service and try to reason with them?

39F here in suffolk county. I have a fiance and we live together with two cats, no kids.

Idk why but I've found it really tough to make friends on the island even though I've lived here all my life. Traffic aside, I love what the island has to offer. Proximity to NYC and beaches simultaneously.

My childhood friends are all married with kids and between running their kids around all week.. weekends are usually family/play date time.

I have a 5am workout class i hit during the week so I'm early to bed most work nights except for the occasional early dinner/drinks outing but it would be awesome to have some friend time on the weekends.

Most outings I find either heavily skewed towards late 20s-early 30s or empty nesters/retirees.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

What the heck has happened to our ecosystems, we’ve always had a healthy amount of bunnies but this yes it’s out of control, my lawn looks like it’s been attacked, quite a few burrows or dens , what is everyone else’s doing to help control the damage to their property, obviously I don’t want to use poison. North shore Nassau County.

So my wife and I (two women) have recently retired and I came up with the brilliant (was it?) idea of planning Mystery Dates to keep the spark alive. The deal is every other month one of us plans a “date.” I went first and last month we went to The Bethpage Polo Match! It was SO MUCH FUN! And totally something we’ve never done. Thing is I need fun ideas from my Reddit family. I’m on the hook for August. We have some mobility issues at the moment (both recovering from surgeries) so give me your best stuff. I’m coming from the New England area so I was going to drive to New London CT to take the orient point ferry (with my car) then drive to the Huntington NY area.

1. Does this sound like the most efficient way to avoid the most traffic?

Hello. My young children have recently gotten very into fishing. Unfortunately, I don't know what I am doing and I want to support them in this hobby. Does anybody have any recommendations for where I can take them to fish? I would prefer regions of Nassau but I am willing to go to Suffolk.

We are looking for something simple that can be caught with a spincaster. I can do a couple of different knots and I am open to any sort or rig/bait. They do not care what they catch.

We have tried areas like hempstead lake and belmont lake but we have been unsuccessful. They are still having fun but I want to help them succeed. I have only ever done party boat fishing myself and I don't know much about fishing lakes and stuff like that.

Drove out of our way today to pick up some donuts, and were disappointed to see it's closed due to a fire. Curious when this happened, we don't live out that way and were looking forward to some quality donuts for a change. Here's hoping it comes back, but I'm sure it was yet another place that was too good for this world 😔💔

I’m looking for a youth sports program and advice;

We’re on the north shore border of Nassau/suffolk area (will travel for a good program)

I have 2 sons, one is 7 and has a learning disability, HIGHLY distracted, loses attention super fast and not that coordinated. Right now he does taekwondo and he’s been doing well with it, but I was hoping to get him into team sports, im looking for something that the program is a little slower paced but not too slow and understanding of a child with a disability. I’ve done sports groups before with him.. and I really want to avoid super intense bro-dads who assume their kid is going pro because I want my child to feel safe and can cultivate love for a sport.

-if anyone has a child that’s similar what kind of sports or programs have you found to be successful for them?

My other son 4 is more typical but can be shy and slow to start but can get into it more easily. I was thinking soccer or lacrosse for him, but open to other sports.

What are your favorite youth programs? We started with i9 but the kids age out around 6 for most of their programs and i wanted to find something my kids can grow up with
