I recently bought vintage Justin triads that were listed as being alligator belly. Thanks to my buddy, u/mydoglit, for finding these for me. Looking at the scaling and scutes in the photos, I knew immediately that they weren’t alligator belly. Now that I have the boots in my hands, these are definitely sea turtles, and these are going to be my first sea turtles too. As the photos show, they’re in a little rough state, especially one boot’s heel stack that are going to require more than just heel cap replacements. The turtle leather is dry and needs deep conditioning, which I’m doing an overnight conditioning wrap as I type this. They’ll needs some polish work as well, but this is what they look like for now. I’ll post the some results in the next few days, when I complete some restoration steps.

Rios of Mercedes new to me pig suede ;)

I’m waiting to receive this purchase off eBay. A more recent RoM boot model, but I’ve been wanting a pair of roughouts, but I saw these cutter toes and snapped these up as a bday present to myself. I give myself best presents lol. I wish they were a dark brown roughout, but this whisky colored suede pair will do well in my collection. Lightly worn as well. Not the most exotic hide, but care should be easy. I’ll post later on how they fit, but I already have a pair of full quill RoMs in the same toe style and era boot model and they fit me perfectly well.

Anyone have a favorite suede conditioner/protectant they like using for their suede/roughouts. I’ve got my suede brushes already in my maintenance kit, but I would like to hear folks’ personal experiences with said products. Thanks 🙏🏿
