The Crane's Voice: A Story Gundam 00 Never Recorded

https://www.wattpad.com/story/411443833 (still requires final check)

So basically, I had decided to write (and eventually wrote) a Gundam OC that is destined to be an anonymous tragedy from start to finish, followed by an original fanfic that comes with it. I hardly expect anyone to be interested in this idea. After all, which Gundam fans would ever care about a nobody than a Gundam pilot?

Unlike Bernie (0080) or Lockon (00 S1) where they had their legacies after their death and are beloved by fans, I want someone who is basically an ordinary civilian, so innocent her mindset is "cute is good, not-cute is not-good", had her origin a disaster, being recruited by something she did not sign up for, never a pilot but a mechanic, contributed to an important mobile weapon in the series, wanted to be close to the canonical protagonist (but the protagonist never knew her), but died alone with complete erasure physically, archivally, socially, and narratively.

We had seen much of repeating "Wow, cool robots" and "War-is-bad (in usually the simplest sense)" themes within Gundam, which is perhaps why it's popular and attractive, but I wanna make a bold choice to remove the wow factors and zoom in the tragedy of war in the scope of an anonymous casualty. I know it's expected to be anti-popular but the outcome would be its intended artistic effect, showing how the majority would choose to care for a hero over a no-one.

The story should take place during and adjacent to Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (2nd Season), where between A-Laws' foundation and the 00 Raiser docking scene. Gundam 00 has the 3rd most detailed lore behind UC and Seed, but unlike UC and Seed which are packed and mostly undisputed, 00 is still open to discovery. In S2 specifically, we had seen too much of Setsuna's heroism and good-vs-evil. It's also almost the series' 20th anniversary so why not.

It's gonna be a fanfic within the Gundam field, but unlike most Gundam side stories, or unlike (non-Gundam, but) "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" that is "a Star Wars story", I want my one to be "a story Gundam 00 never recorded".

And you might be asking why there's Simplified Chinese text on Image 2, it's not because I'm Chinese (even though I am, but I'm not from Mainland China), it's because of the protagonist for this story happened to be from China.

Ik ppl are gonna be mad at me for an attempt to distort the canon, but pls lemme do it 🙏

And btw, apparently Setsuna has a new nickname he never knew. "Gundam-kun".

Here is some introduction and preface information about this story:

"Han Xiaomei.

A name never mentioned in the official history of Mobile Suit Gundam 00.

Nowhere has her name in the ending credits. Nowhere has she appeared in any side-story manga.

She was just one of several dozen casualties resulting from the attack on the Lagrange 3 resource satellite.

But that does not mean her story is not worth telling.

Because every "unknown" death is the greatest tragedy in someone's life.

And this text tells a story that exists in no official history."

"This work strictly follows the canonical timeline and setting of Mobile Suit Gundam 00 Season 2 (A.D. 2312), with the story's major event occurring during the events of Lagrange 3 Resource Satellite in Episodes 35-36. All main plot events are, and should be, fully compatible with the anime canon.

This story is based on publicly available information from the TV series and official lore materials. Han Xiaomei, as an original character, has her background, experiences, and final fate designed to be, if not fully, substantially compatible with these canonical events.

The reason her story cannot be seen in the anime canon is precisely the core tragic theme of this work-because she truly did die silently and without a trace, just like countless ordinary people crushed by the gears of war in that era."

[OC] Re-creating the London Tube map in progress, but I'm bad at this job

I had decided to remake the London Tube map (made with draw.io or diagrams.net) where it should only include the Underground, Overground, Crossrail (Elizabeth Line), DLR, Trams, and IFS Cable Car that are part of TfL while excluding Thameslink, including the following changes:

  • Making sure it is well-simplified, cleaner, while keeping lines and stations geographically relative and remaining practical as a metro system map.
  • Has the Thames the only background element.
  • Explicitly showing out-of-station interchanges and gate-free interchanges.
  • Rework on the line-style of Trams and DLR (so to make sure they're not the same as Overground and Elizabeth Line)
  • Forcefully turning the Circle Line more closer into a rectangle/trapezium/(you get the idea) and less like a irregular shape.
  • Straightening some lines, including the Thames.
  • Reworked on Paddington, Earl's Court*, and Euston interchanges. (* For Earl's Court, some trains from Edgware Road does go to Ealing Broadway than just Wimbledon, except they are limited to late train services. I just checked and realised I messed up.)
  • Having Kings Cross St. Pancras showing two National Rail symbols (for two separate rail stations) and an Eurostar logo for international services.
  • If the connected National Rail station has a different name, it has its own empty station circle.

However, I think I messed up for the east of the Thames (DLR area), but I'm still thinking of a way on how to fix it.

And I'm basically destroying the London Tube style with this one.

Londoners gonna hate me ;-;
