Meze Audio 99 Classics v2 Impressions and Review - A Metalhead's Perspective

Meze Audio 99 Classics v2 Impressions and Review - A Metalhead's Perspective

This is a follow-up video to my Meze 99 Classics v2 Brief Impressions video I posted nearly 2 weeks ago.

The TL;DR is that this may be my least favorite Meze Audio headphone. I will still attribute the issues I am experiencing due to fit -- likely due to the thin ear pads.

However, it is a warm-neutral headphone that is more balanced than the 99 Classics v1. I wish I could consistently get a good seal to experience better bass, but it is what it is.

Anyway, I hope you all enjoy! Please excuse the fact that I mispronounced timbre multiple times in the video. It was a long day today lol.

Meze Audio 99 Classics v2 Brief Impressions - A Metalhead's Perspective

Here is a brief impressions video of the Meze Audio 99 Classics v2.

The summary is that I am having a difficult time with getting a good fit/seal and that is impacting the sound. However, if the stars align, the sound is a decent warm-neutral take with a very slight midrange recession and adequate treble/detail.

I think Meze should release some headphone rings that clip into the 99 Classics v2 and allow for aftermarket pads.

Has anyone listened to these? Thoughts?

Final Audio DX4000CL Impressions and Review - A Metalhead's Perspective

Hello r/headphones!

Guess who is back with a new review of the Final Audio DX4000CL? This guy.

I was also more sleep deprived and rambling than ever. Who doesn't like that? Unless you are on a time crunch.

I discuss my thoughts about the DX4000CL and compare it mostly against its younger brother, the DX3000CL.

The TL;DR is that the DX3000CL is more fun, punchy and bass heavy, with a forward midrange and relaxed/rolled off treble... essentially quite dark/warm. The DX4000CL is warm-neutral, with elevated bass that presents itself when the song calls for it, has a forward midrange, more present treble and overall more detailed.

Anyway, please let me know your thoughts! These headphones are quite fun to compare against each other and the differences are immediately noticeable.

Meze Audio 105 AER Impressions and Review - A Metalhead's Perspective - YouTube

Hello r/headphones!

I'm back with another review of the Meze Audio 105 AER.

These are currently on a Spring 2026 25% off sale and would set you back $299 ($399 MSRP).

I am a big fan of Meze Audio and had a chance to listen most of their headphones at Bloom Audio about 2 months ago now. I listened to the 105 AER, 105 Silva and 109 Pro back to back. Because my preference is for a dark or warm sound signature, the 105 AER sounded the best to my ears and handled metal music quite well.

I believe these would be a good introduction to audiophile headphones for anyone who is considering dipping their toes into the hobby. Plus, at the current price, they are quite a steal in my opinion and offer a full package.

Also what metalhead does not like a stealth black headphone with an interesting design language?

I'd love to hear any thoughts or feedback!
