What does everyone think of this? A part of the just recently past expanded Adult Crime, Adult Time laws..

"For some of the new offences, the maximum penalty for a child will increase to life detention (where that is currently only the maximum penalty if the offence is particularly heinous and involves the commission of violence against a person). For those offences, if a child is sentenced to life they will be liable to the same 15 year mandatory minimum non-parole period that applies to an adult."

EMDR & The cost of Hypnosis Therapy.

A recent article suggests a Sunshine Coast survivor of sexual abuse can no longer prosecute her case due to undergoing EMDR therapy.

"Eye Movement and Desensitisation 'Reprocessing'."

Is a process of psychotherapy designed to help the brain heal from trauma.

Without going into details of the therapy itself, it is classed as a form of forensic hypnosis and is therefore discounted as evidence once undergone due to the fact it can alter memories.

According to the DPP and QPS an eyewitness testimony must remain entirely unaffected by external circumstances.

What is everyone's thoughts regarding this?

Labor Primary Vote Discussion..

The recent/not so recent results of the Stafford by election, showed that Labor struggled in a former stronghold seat.

The primary vote fell by 7.98% to 30.79% while the LNP won the primary vote by 40.34%.

The only "saving grace" was that Labor was saved by a strong flow of preferences from minor parties aka The Greens, Legalise Cannabis, and the Animal Justice Party) which got them over the line.

Meaning Luke Richmond was only saved by preference.

If ONP vote trends continue and they test this seat, what might happen..

General Information & Housekeeping..

Greetings everyone,

The purpose of this post is to inform new members and remind old ones of basic sub rules and provide **general housekeeping information** for those interested.

General Information

Firstly, this sub is designed for everyone across the political spectrum regardless of age, gender, race, belief system or sexual orientation. It is also designed to allow people to come and share their views on and/or discuss/debate politics in Queensland irrespective of their opinions, unless extreme (Nazi etc..). Please keep this in mind.

Secondly, please remain abreast of the rules, especially those that could (sadly) result in the censure or removal of you and any posts or comments that you make that may breach these rules.

These rules are:

  1. Behaviour & Etiquette (in particular trolling)

  2. Spam (unwanted marketing, promotions etc..)

  3. Mindfulness (respecting others)

  4. Inclusivity. (abuse)

Please bear in mind that censure or removal by mods from the sub even for these rules will always be a last resort option. We are lenient mods and know that when it comes to politics and hot topics, tempers can flare, we can say stupid things or be very passionate about certain beliefs. Which is why warnings will generally be issued before any permanent action is taken. The breach has to be pretty severe and deliberate for immediate removal.

Other rules are general guidelines, that may result in a post removal or request for change at the worst but are not hard and fast rules. Of these ones keep in mind the concept of 'originality', with posts and link sharing (Rule 12 and Rule 10).This doesn't need to be flashy with links, a simple rephrasing of the headline if you're stuck will suffice. Linking to an old post to discuss it does not break Rule 9 or 10 if you're taking a new angle or furthering discussion.

General Housekeeping:

User flairs are available for users to assign themselves a flair; ( I think you can also create one). Let me know if you can’t! Also if you could invite friends to the sub that would be greatly appreciated. Can help grow our sub.

And lastly, don’t forget this sub is also a democratic space for everyone, regardless of level of expertise or knowledge etc… so feel free to raise questions, challenge things that don't breach the rules mentioned above and generally treat this place as your own.

Posting tips:

"IF" you're stuck with ideas for posts, feel free to:

- Follow political leaders and issues across party lines in your region (in all tiers of government i.e., council, state and federal) then post about it here on this sub;

[Just make sure federal content is directly related to QLD]

- Read free or paid articles from news sites like the ABC, Courier Mail or the Guardian and other news outlets in your area;

[Just make sure the paid content of article i.e., story is shared]

- Grab information from another post on here and take it in your own direction. (New angle, more niche etc..)

- Go to the Queensland Parliament website, watch committees, live broadcasts and read what you can on the website.

Regards, Moderation team.

r/Queensland_Politics - Community Goal and Moderator roles.

Hey everyone! I'm u/Mark_297, the founding moderator of r/Queensland_Politics.

Just a post to remind everyone of the purpose of the sub and my role. Whilst I have been inactive a bit, I plan on changing that if I can and apologise.

This subs (community's) goal is to be a safe open democratic space for people from all political backgrounds, except extreme fascism and communism advocation.

A place to discuss "Queensland Politics" at "your level" free from discrimination (but not critique or challenge). So no need to be experts or to be judged for lack of knowledge.

"Our" rules and creed reflect this.

My role and other moderators role is to:

  1. Help facilitate the subs main aim and purpose.

  2. Join in to a degree and post and comment and be a part of the community. But not overpolice or overstep.

  3. Reflect the community we are creating and reside in but still be independent in view etc.

If you have concerns or want to talk message :)

One Nation Party Policies (from NPC Address)

  1. Slow down/shut down migration.

  2. Bring back negative gearing, walk back changes.

  3. Support nuclear energy.

  4. Cut off subsidies for renewable energy.

  5. Subsidise business start ups and farmers.

  6. Increase gas and coal investment.

  7. Capital gains tax targets young Australians cancel it. (1/10 is a lot of people)

  8. Sack Human Rights Commissioner and Dr Anna Cody for their transgender bias and attack on biological sex discrimination against women.

  9. AI Insurgency and the effect of it on people and society should be regulated and not left in the hands of the people through mechanisms.

[Economic wellbeing of everyday Australians].

  1. Shut down the SBS and dramatically change the ABC to a subscription service only in the city. Offering a free service to rural areas.

  2. Reign in government spending, pay down debt.

  3. Invest in small business.

Personal reflection:

Sounds like the Liberal Party 10 years ago.

I also find it very interesting she stated that went she went to the EU and asked them if they wanted to make economic deals, they said to her, not until you comply with climate change. Regardless of political persuasion that is concerning.

I note she hasn't changed just done a Greens Qld, as in learnt to bend to issues the electorates care about..
