"For some of the new offences, the maximum penalty for a child will increase to life detention (where that is currently only the maximum penalty if the offence is particularly heinous and involves the commission of violence against a person). For those offences, if a child is sentenced to life they will be liable to the same 15 year mandatory minimum non-parole period that applies to an adult."

Do we know what offences?
I read in The Courier Mail yesterday that over 44,000 Queenslanders had made locality searches via the public sex offender register in the six months since it was launched. Is there anyone here who’s used it? If so, what motivated you to look and what did you do once you accessed that information? I’m just curious about what people are actually doing with this info and the Courier Mail article didn’t really go into that at all.

A recent article suggests a Sunshine Coast survivor of sexual abuse can no longer prosecute her case due to undergoing EMDR therapy.
"Eye Movement and Desensitisation 'Reprocessing'."
Is a process of psychotherapy designed to help the brain heal from trauma.
Without going into details of the therapy itself, it is classed as a form of forensic hypnosis and is therefore discounted as evidence once undergone due to the fact it can alter memories.
According to the DPP and QPS an eyewitness testimony must remain entirely unaffected by external circumstances.
What is everyone's thoughts regarding this?
Whilst I agree with the article to not engage in her rage bait, the idea of "let’s keep asking her politely to please explain.", is flawed in the simple reality that she DOES NOT explain. Neither do her One Nation plebs. The only ones that we can ask is the electorate - us and sadly the mind of a One Nation supporter is about as coherent as that of a 3yo child. So where does the article's tactic leave us?

Personal reflection:
Sounds like the Liberal Party 10 years ago.
I also find it very interesting she stated that went she went to the EU and asked them if they wanted to make economic deals, they said to her, not until you comply with climate change. Regardless of political persuasion that is concerning.
I note she hasn't changed just done a Greens Qld, as in learnt to bend to issues the electorates care about..
In accordance with section 51 of the Electoral Act 1992, the Queensland Redistribution Commission has prepared its final electoral redistribution of the State’s electoral districts.
Plenty of changes, the Katter party has been delivered a massive blow, likely in retaliation to them announcing plans to side with Labor prior to the election results. I also noticed 17 renamings of electorates.
Given ‘project invisibility’ that was recently uncovered and the ever present threat to women’s rights in Queensland. My skeptical mind is deconstructing the name changes….Maiwar was renamed, and is named after the Indigenous word for the Brisbane River. Oodgeroo was renamed, named after Oodgeroo Noonuccal, who was an Aboriginal Australian political activist, artist and educator, who campaigned for Aboriginal rights. McConnel, named after a woman, after Mary McConnel (1824–1910), a prominent European settler, philanthropist, and social reformer.
I only looked into those three so far as I have projects due but wanted to open the discussion in general and in more niche contexts.
Outside of the clear shifting of boundaries to favour the current government, instead of adding more seats to parliament (as was an option). I do question other motives behind the changes.
any other insights or thoughts?
The recent/not so recent results of the Stafford by election, showed that Labor struggled in a former stronghold seat.
The primary vote fell by 7.98% to 30.79% while the LNP won the primary vote by 40.34%.
The only "saving grace" was that Labor was saved by a strong flow of preferences from minor parties aka The Greens, Legalise Cannabis, and the Animal Justice Party) which got them over the line.
Meaning Luke Richmond was only saved by preference.
If ONP vote trends continue and they test this seat, what might happen..
Government News:
50 cent fares are becoming permanent (locked in).
SEQ Water prices are being locked in for two years.
$250 million into Child Safety Reform including a Queensland Protection Commission.
35.5 billion health budget into the "hospital rescue plan".
$800 million into the Copperstring Electricity Project. (Critical mineral extraction).
Issues
* Housing Market is accelerating, median price is becoming $1 million.

Just a post to remind everyone of the purpose of the sub and my role. Whilst I have been inactive a bit, I plan on changing that if I can and apologise.
This subs (community's) goal is to be a safe open democratic space for people from all political backgrounds, except extreme fascism and communism advocation.
A place to discuss "Queensland Politics" at "your level" free from discrimination (but not critique or challenge). So no need to be experts or to be judged for lack of knowledge.
"Our" rules and creed reflect this.
My role and other moderators role is to:
Help facilitate the subs main aim and purpose.
Join in to a degree and post and comment and be a part of the community. But not overpolice or overstep.
