MARK ELWORTH JR.: IF YOU WANT SMALL GOVERNMENT, VOTE FOR SMALL GOVERNMENT
Libertarian candidate for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District says voters deserve an alternative to Washington’s growing government, spending and endless wars
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Mark Elworth Jr., Libertarian candidate for Colorado’s 5th Congressional District, says voters who actually want smaller government should have an alternative to the two major parties.
“I’m not asking voters to pick between big government with a D and big government with an R,” said Elworth. “I’m just asking them to look at a real alternative. If you want smaller government, don’t just vote for the party that says it. Vote for the candidate who actually means it.”
Elworth argues that Republicans often campaign on limited government and fiscal responsibility, but Washington keeps moving in the opposite direction.
“If Republicans were really shrinking government, we’d see less spending, less debt, and a smaller federal bureaucracy,” Elworth said. “Instead, everything keeps growing. A government that gets bigger every year isn’t small government—it’s just the same system with a different label.”
Elworth says his campaign differs from the major parties on more than just taxes and spending.
“Liberty means the government doesn’t get to run your life just because politicians don’t like your choices,” he said. “I believe in freedom, individual rights, and equal treatment for everyone, including our LGBTQ+ neighbors. Your rights shouldn’t depend on whether a politician approves of how you live.”
Elworth also opposes America’s involvement in ongoing foreign conflicts and the continued growth of military spending.
“America needs a strong defense, but defending the country and policing the world are two very different things,” Elworth said. “I oppose the war with Iran, and I oppose endless wars and foreign interventions. Taxpayers shouldn’t be stuck funding conflicts overseas while our national debt keeps climbing.”
Elworth also opposes continued U.S. taxpayer funding for foreign wars, including Israel’s military operations.
“American taxpayers shouldn’t be treated like an endless ATM for foreign governments,” Elworth said. “Our foreign policy should put American lives, American taxpayers, and American interests first. A strong America doesn’t need endless wars.”
For Elworth, the Libertarian alternative is simple:
Less government. Less spending. Less debt. Less interference in our personal lives. No more war. Lower taxes because they are theft. More freedom always.
“I’m not running to manage Washington’s massive government,” Elworth said. “I’m running to shrink it and give power back to the people where it belongs.”
Elworth says voting Libertarian is not a wasted vote.
“Voting Libertarian isn’t voting against something—it’s voting for something,” said Elworth. “If you think government is too big, taxes are too high, spending is out of control, and Washington has too much power over your life, there is a candidate on the ballot who actually starts from those beliefs.”
Minimum Government. Maximum Freedom.
