Newish player here, is this literally all I need for a comms network?
Hey all, I've started messing around with probes and I found out the hard way that I need a way to send signal to and from Kerbin for that to work, so I'm trying to understand space comms networks
The way I'm doing this, I'm sending many small probes into orbit with nothing but relay antennae, batteries and solar panels, so that at least one is always visible from anywhere in space. I'm playing in science mode, so rather than trying to optimize the number of probes, I'm just planning to send more of these into orbit at various altitudes and in various directions so that a few are always visible.
My question is: is this really all I need for a working communication network? Will probes automatically connect to it now? And how far can I send stuff with it? I'd like to send unmanned probes around every planet eventually and I wonder how far they can get before I lose control
(Again, I'm playing science mode, I don't care much about optimizing it, I want first to get something that works and to understand the game more)
