How to apply a character style you've created?

I created a character style specifically so I could capture and re-apply a nice color I had inadvertently come up with while designing my front cover. I want to use the same color of text on the rather long blurb on my back cover. The blurb is already there, but now I want to change the color of the text to match the same color of the text on my front cover.

I thought I could do this, after creating the character style based on the text with the desired color characteristic, highlighting the target text that makes up my blurb, by applying the style I just created.

But nowhere do I find the option to "apply style" under the text menu. There's a "re-apply style" but that's not what I want and choosing that option automatically applies some style I've never seen before and certainly is not the one I just created.

So what am I missing? I haven't put blood into trying to figure this out yet, but I've put sweat and tears. I need help. If anyone can give me this help, I thank you.

Rotate text box exactly 90 degrees without relying on manual dexterity

This is for doing the spine of a book cover. I figured out how to manually rotate my text box, but I either over or under shoot the 90 degree mark by a degree or so. I've tried over and over, but I can't get it to exactly 90 degrees.

I know there must be a way that does not rely on manual dexterity, but I just have not been able to find it/figure it out.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone has on this.

FTM forcing me to add parent, but not always

Making a tree where I'm not interested who this family of 7 siblings married, just who their kids were. So I was happy FTM let me add a daughter to one of the siblings without automatically creating a box for said daughter's other parent.

But my happiness was short-lived because the next sibling I added a child to, FTM automatically created a box labeled "Add Father." I can't get rid of the box, and I don't want or need it and it's taking up space. I even tried deleting the child and adding him back in again. But FTM automatically wants me to "Add Father" each time when it didn't do that in the parallel case. Here's an image of what I'm talking about:https://imgur.com/a/D0dW1w6

It will show how I was able to add Pauline Kopp's daughter, Mariam Kopp, in without being prompted to "add father." But in the case of Fredericka Linder's son Eugene Heinrich, I keep getting that damn "Add Father" box I don't want.

Why is it forcing me to add a father in one case, but not the other? In any event, is there a setting that would allow me to suppress "Add Parent" boxes if I don't want them in certain trees? Sometimes you're not interested in tracking both parents. I suppose for pure genealogy you want both parents, but for other purposes maybe you don't care about the person who married into the family, you only care about the "blood relatives."

If I am missing something obvious thanks to any and all who point it out to me.

Fredonia, N.Y. high school yearbooks 1939-1949

Helping cousin sort family archives. He has eight yearbooks from Fredonia, New York 1939-1949 (missing the years 1940, 1945, 1946). What's the best bet for getting them to someone who will actually digitize them and get them onto the internet, if this is possible? Is it better to donate to a local historical society, or to the Internet Archive, or to Family Search or somewhere else?
