What's the story with the Star Trek unitards at the Boston Pops 4th last night?

Does anyone have any information on these outfits and what the theme/purpose of them was? Were they just meant to be outlandish or was there something that we just missed?

They're sort of like a torn mesh, black transitioning into white. The right sleeve is standalone with an iridescent ring around the ends and an iridescent collar....

At first, I thought it was musical score but when you look at it, it's not.

No idea here...

Seeing Vegas go 30 minutes without a shot makes me feel like the Bruins are in the playoffs.

The Las Vegas Knights down two goals to zero and three games to two go 30 minutes without a shot on net.
The black and gold reminds me of the Bruins...shooooot!!!

I was watching season 1 episode 9 "Your Kind, My Kind, Human Kind" and I can find no reference to this little gem. It's a rendition of The Greatest American Hero theme during the scene transition.

I'd love to know which came first. Is this an Easter Egg, and later became the inspiration for the theme...or had he already composed the theme and snuck this in?

March 18, 1981 The Greatest American Hero premiered. This episode aired 3 weeks prior, Feb 28, 1981.

When he whiffed on this pass off a face off win in the buffalo zone down two to one with 14 minutes left... and buffaloes scored a goal off this play... I was like JFC dude… Really bad.
