Too cautious £$

I’m planning on moving to Canada to become a trucker. I have only just passed my class 1 in the uk and will do 3-4 years here first.

I plan to do 3-4 years so I can save money, I’m looking at having between £50-70,000 GBP which would put me hopefully around $100,000 CAD.

I’m doing this as I’m aware of the cost of the living, paying for my truck licence, time finding a job, and the cost of buying and running a car.

Am I being a little bit excessive with waiting so long to have that much saved up and should I just take the leap and go earlier with less funds.

It’s worth adding Im looking no at Winnipeg as the best trucking opportunity and best chance to get PR (if I enjoy it) and the saved money would one day go towards a house hopefully if I have any left and can save from trucking.

ADR Wages

Hi, I’m a new pas HGV class 1 driver. My long term plan is to save as much as possible and get as much experience as possible before moving to Canada to truck.

On the money side of things when I research it says having your ADR will get you the better paying jobs but on the surface when I search ADR jobs the wages are the same and most of the time actually worse (£14-£16 p/h)

Of course I’m looking to work as long hours as possible and earn as high an hourly rate as possible to gain experience and money to move.

What are people’s thoughts on the best way to do this (I think I’m going to complete it anyway but tbh money wise it doesn’t seem to make a difference)

I’m north West based

Thank you

Move to Canada from uk. As a trucker

I’ve recently passed my HGV class 1 in England. (I’m 22 years old, from Manchester)

I’m looking to work here for the next 3-5 years, long haul, possibly get my ADR and work on tankers, do tramping and save aggressively ( I live at home so saving will be easy)

I really want to move to Canada. I know I have to get the licence over there as my Class 1 can’t transfer but on Reddit I’m seeing a lot of negative attitude towards the job market/ pay rate and immigration to become a trucker in general.

With 3-5 years experience, clean record and more than enough money saved (looking at having £40-60k cash) will it really be an impossible task to go over and become a trucker and make a life for myself?

For context being in the uk for me is done I don’t want to live here anymore not fussed about being close to family and I’m confident I can make new friends , I do posses an Irish passport and can easily go there however it’s more or less the same, and Australia is the only other option however not so appealing to me.

It’s of course worth noting I’d be hoping to work hard enough and be able to get PR this isn’t a short term few years away plan. However if PR is impossible at the time I’m sure I’d be appreciative of the opportunity of having been able to work there.

Any help/ comments appreciated
Thank you
