Patho

So my first class for patho is tomorrow and I’m nervous as hell. I’m already kinda nervous with teas prep going in at the same time as this class but it’s just the circumstances I gotta deal with, with that what are yalls study tips for patho.

I haven’t looked too well into the first unit content yet since I’m gathering everything to even just start the semester and I keep seeing words like RRD and stuff like that. Is this something that I kinda just gotta figure out or will we talk about it the first day of lecture.

I’m already planning on taking the advice of reviewing it everyday for 45 mins at least but what else did y’all do to keep up with this enough to get a b. Im trying to fit everything together so I can study for the teas and this pathology class without burning out- ex. Having the weekend off when I can

Teas help

So for everyone that has taken the teas and has been successful how did y’all go about forming y’all’s study schedules for the amount of time y’all had between first studying and your exam day?

I’m starting studying tomorrow and will have almost 9 weeks to prep for the teas exam before taking it for the first time in case I need to take it again. I already know that I have to take a diagnostic to see where I’m actually at, but what did y’all do with that information in order to help you form a strong and solid study schedule.

I’m looking to take the most thorough diagnostic I can to really see what it is that I’m missing, but would like to have any advice about where to go from there and how detailed I must really go to make sure I study effectively while still having a life outside of studying. My goal is to have at least 3 study sessions a week so I can still focus in on my university classes and give myself at least one day off.

If anyone has any suggestions for studying materials for each individual section I’d really appreciate it.

Sliding scale

I’m trying my luck with applying to sliding scale discounts at clinics around me (closest is an hour away) but one thing that’s a barrier even for that is my household size. I’m not exactly sure how to state my household size since I live with my mother and she doesn’t charge me for rent of food , but doesn’t cover anything else including medical/dental expenses, car expenses, college tuition (paid by grants), etc (I also file taxes independently). I wouldn’t even be able to cover sliding scale pricing if I have to include my mother’s income in that scale as well and was wondering if anyone knew anything I could do to help my situation.

I’m planning on calling the financial coordinators for these clinics ahead of time to ask, but was wondering if it’s even worth me asking about at this point.

Refund

For anyone that has had a large sum of a treatment plan refunded back to their CareCredit account how long did it take, I just want to know the timeline to make sure I call when I need to if something goes wrong- I’ve only gotten a ledger saying the refund amount, today date (when it was done), the amount and my card information

I’m gonna try to be patient for now but anxiety makes things kinda crazy 😅

Points help

What do other nursing majors suggest to help bring up my points before applying for the nursing program this January

My admissions gpa: 3.286
Science gpa: 3.000
Consideration points- freshman consideration if applied to this upcoming cycle (0.5), 30 hours of nursing pre requisites earned at uta (0.5), 12 hours of natural sciences completed at uta (0.5)

I’m aiming to also get a consideration point for getting a B or higher in pathology which I am taking this fall which I am also looking for studying advice for

If I am waitlisted or rejected would y’all suggest a retake my natural sciences since that is where a lot of my B’s are. I already know both my GPA’s look very questionable compared to others since I fell into burn out right after my first semester and took too many sciences at the same time but I would like to fix it anyway I can for a better chance at getting in anywhere.

And for others in a similar situation what have you done to stay confident in your abilities or how did y’all organize and raise your scores

Thank you for any advice

Teas

Summer has been very life changing and chaotic and I simply did need to focus on my mental health for a while so I’m starting the process of studying for the teas once school starts which I know is not ideal at all which is why I’m pushing the time for me to take the teas to be in October so I can at least retake in November if I have to (would have rather had the three chances instead of just two 😭)

I was wondering what other pre nursing students have done to practice for the teas in this long of a time frame (to account for school study and work) while still keeping yourself mentally healthy. I was a A and B student when it came to my prerequisites but I struggle with independently studying things since I very much like to know exactly what I need to study and when which makes this feel like so much scarier than it actually is. I was hoping other nursing majors that are similar to me could advise me with starting steps and materials to study for the teas exam to add into what I can maybe get from my advisor when I meet with them.

I already bought an TEAS study book and I’m planning on taking a practice exam to really see where to start at, but would really appreciate the help from other nursing majors and maybe some encouragement since I feel like I’m overwhelmed and in a hole right now.

Help getting started

I’m looking for how to even start studying for the teas exam- I’m planning on taking at the latest October so I can give myself a second chance to take it again in November if needed before the applications close January of next year

Long story short life got really messy and chaotic and the plan to start studying during the summer fell completely flat how did everyone even start independently studying for the teas exam while still managing a starting semester and what resources did y’all use to prepare yourselves while still staying mentally healthy?

I have started a list so far on what others describe as useful and what resources and steps to take including taking a practice exam to really know where you are at when you start the journey. I’m also looking into possible study groups at my school with other pre nursing students to make studying feel less chaotic without a clear structure to follow. I would be really thankful for anyone that can help guide me in the right direction.

Thank you for all the help anyone can provide me

Aspen dental

So long story short I’ve made a dumb choice of falling to pressure from aspen dental and agreed to 11k treatment plan sing CareCredit financing plan- once doing research after visit immediately regretted it and wanted to use their 5 business day promise to cancel everything expect the cleaning I already had done and the follow up for it

Now my question is how do I go about this and what are my options- since the charge is still pending and not posted can I simply have it voided or cancelled and be charged a separate bill that can be structured to have a different payment plan length of my choosing or will I be stuck with the original charge of things I haven’t had done yet or be stuck with the length I originally chose?

I need the best help I can get to figure this out- I’m already set on coming in person to talk this through with the billing manager at the office I went to and will be asking for bill showing only procedures I elected and had done with void or refund issue proof

Dental services

Lost story short I was quoted 11k for dental work due to not having insurance, I can’t pay that and even with financing it’s still too much of a payment a month for way to long

What has everyone else in the dfw done, I went to aspen dental and was told I needed all wisdom teeth taken out, two permanent crowns and 5 fillings- needed wisdom teeth out before even getting the crowns in September if I went by their schedule

I’m more worried about the crown ones since that tooth itself looks the worse- my moms plan is going to Mexico which is the cheapest and easier since I’ve got family there but it would need me to wait until December due to uni being in the way and I’m worried about even doing that

What would y’all suggest, I thought about asking since in the U.S this isn’t exactly unheard of

Headlight connector

I recently bought a headlight replacement for my 2014 ford focus se and when I looked at the main connector the little tab used to disconnect it was snapped off but the rest of it was fine, how to I still remove the connector without damaging it more and how do I ensure it’s still securely plugged into the new headlight
