This is what a 10g matcha latte looks like in a 16oz cup

This is what a 10g matcha latte looks like in a 16oz cup

I made this because I had a long drive and sharing with my wife but I figured I’d share because I think most people forget that matcha has caffeine.

Maybe not as much as coffee but at 10g you are somewhere in the 300-400mg range potentially depending on the matcha.

I see a lot of social media content with rich green lattes that are in tall glasses or cups and it’s hard not to notice that they must be using upwards of 8+ grams of matcha then those just getting into matcha see it, try to make something similar with a moderate recipe and get disappointed by the result.

So in a nutshell - if you’re caffeine sensitive, take it easy with matcha too. smaller ratios for a rich matcha latte are usually best. I find that 8-12oz cups are best.

Personally 8oz-10oz cups are the sweet spot for me (, with ~2oz of made matcha (4g matcha + 45-55ml of water) make really enjoyable matcha lattes, topped with ice and milk of choice.

Hope this was of value to people just getting into matcha

Watermelon sparkling matcha with cold Brew Sencha

In a previous post someone recommended giving this a try! The cold brew sencha was just something I added because I thought it would be a nice touch. You can really notice in the photo.

Personally, not a huge watermelon fan or flavored sparkling water but wanted to give the recommendation a try!

This looked stunning in the photo and probably one of my new favorite looking drinks.

I used 1.5 grams of matcha to 30ml of water here.

Reporting Back - Matcha Latte with Watermelon - 8.5/10

I didn’t measure much out but I took a few pieces of watermelon with honey and made a puree that I sifted out. I’m not the biggest fan of watermelon so there is a bit of a bias here but my wife loved it. I wish it was a bit thicker but the nice thing about blending watermelon is that it doesn’t need any water. Just watermelon, honey and pinch of salt.

Overall I give it a 8.5/10. I still prefer strawberry over watermelon!

Thanks for the suggestion from the previous post! Was a fun experiment! Would love to see others give this a try and improve on it because it has potential!

Strawberry (Puree) Matcha Latte - Strawberry Puree or Syrup?

Still one of my absolute favorite and simple combinations to make. Strawberry and matcha just work so well together. I’m still torn on puree vs syrups. Curious to get people’s thoughts here - what do you prefer? Strawberry Puree or Syrup?

I make the puree by simply blending strawberries with honey, lemon and salt, then straining it to get something smooth. The fresh strawberries just taste so good!

A simple matcha latte - touch of honey. 4g of matcha + 58ml of water (2oz). 12 oz glass. Ice to the top filled half way with milk.

So simple and good. Love the taste of matcha so there’s only about a quarter teaspoon of honey used to sweeten the matcha

One of the easiest things to make at home. The strawberry purée specifically just needs some honey, salt, lemon juice and a blend. Then strain and it’s good for a few days. Used 4g of matcha to 50ml of water to top off the latte.

Incredible. But I will say, I see a lot of people using koicha grade matcha for lattes and as many times as I’ve tried that, you need those bitter catechins from a matcha that can punch through the milk and added flavors
