Is there a way to prevent the game from pausing when opening the start menu, and every related menu(items, equip, etc...)

I'm making a horror game where every moment counts, and giving the player the ability to pause the game at any moment goes against the whole point imo.

Also not necessary but I'd prefer if it didn't require any plugins.
