Walking app that tracks streets explored in Astoria!

Been using a personal walking tracker to track what streets I’ve walked in Astoria and Manhattan as well as any major cities I’ve travelled (currently 103 cities live in the tracker).

Thought some folks would like to use the tool, so I listed it on iOS! Completely free and private to your device. Great to use while you’re traveling to, really changes how you experience other cities :).

Made an app that tracks your walking progress in NYC and all other major cities!

Thought it would be cool to track your walking progress across neighborhoods and in the city as a whole, as well as other major cities you travel to. So I built an app that lets you color in NYC and compete with others globally and in NYC.

Thought others might appreciate it!

Completely free, and your location/gps never gets shared with me.

DC made me fall in love with walkable cities again!

I walk as my main form of exercise and a while back I decided to try walking every street in different cities as I visit them. It completely changed how I experience walking (and travel!)

DC so far seems one of the best cities for this (and is a city that made me fall in love with walking again). It’s a city that seems pretty easy to get lost in. It’s still grid like organization but in many neighborhoods still feels unique. I’ve always heard good things about DC’s walkability from others but now it clicks :).

Has anyone else tried doing this here, at least in their neighborhoods?

I got obsessed enough with this habit that I built a little tracker for myself that colors in every block I’ve walked. Totally free, recently listed here since some folks have liked the idea (! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/walkmap-walk-every-street/id6787467178). You can also print out a map and highlight it (Rickey gates did this in SF in 2018, fun rabbit hole)

Either way, thank you DC for making walking fun and worth it!!
