Wondering if I should do a pHD

Hello I am a high school student who will be going into university this year (McGill), I will be pursuing mathematics and I was wondering if I should do a PhD after.

List of things I DO NOT WANT:
-Low pay
-Dead end job with no intellectual ability needed (excel sheets and such)

List of things I WANT:
-Research position at a university or industry
-relatively good pay

Do I need a PhD in applied math? How common are research positions, or relatively volatile/exiting jobs that pay well IN INDUSTRY?

Any advice is well appreciated as I am just a high school student right now and do not know a lot of things about academia nor industry.

Any U1/U0 planning to major in math?

I was wondering if any of y’all are planning to major in Honours math, Physics, or compsci. If you are what are you planning to specialize in?

(Im just curious low-key and want to meet some people that are doing the same thing as me. Im planning to do Honours Math)

Help me choose

McGill 100K Schulich scholarship, planning to major in Honours math. (Basically no co-op)

OR

Waterloo, planning to major in Honours Math. (Really good co-op)

I am planning to do a masters, maybe even pHD after undergrad and want to prepare myself for a very rigorous mathematics environment. Preferably I would like to do my pHD studies in the US/UK and I know a lot of good US universities know Waterloo for its exceptional mathematics program. Since Waterloo has a really good name I am more inclined towards it right now but I am not sure. Also the co-op program will be able to cover a lot of my undergrad tuition at least 50%.

***And also what about if Im planning to do masters and go right into industry?***

Please help me choose or just give advice.

course registration date is weird???

I am a new U0 student and I was checking my registration time for courses in Minerva, and it says June 17? I thought for scholarship recipients it should be June 12th? Is anyone else experiencing this problem or does anyone know if it will get fixed as course registration approaches?

Math 150,151

I am an entering U0 student from Manitoba, I was wondering about the availability of MATH 150,151 because I need these courses to later major in Honours mathematics.

Right now it is showing as “not available currently” and I was wondering if it was offered in previous years? I really hope I can take this class because I already finished Calc 1 and parts of Calc 2 and want something more difficult then Math 140 and Math 141.
