Is there any dessert or pastry tastings or anything like that in LA?

For my wife's birthday, I'd love to take her somewhere she can sample a bunch of different desserts/pastries/ice creams/sweets or whatever that she's never had before.

Are there any places like this?

Even a good fondue place with a good dessert menu might work. You know, tapas but sweets.

What are your feelings on using "..." when there's no response from one character?

Example:

VICTIM: What is this? Vengeance? Sending a message?
CAPTOR: ...
VICTIM: Some kind of opening salvo?

Hate when people do this? Find it effective? Do it yourself?
