AWOL Vision Aetherion Max: Unresolved 3D Firmware Issues, Hardware Defects, and 4+ Month Replacement Delays
Posting this to share my experience and alert prospective buyers and backers about current quality control and warranty fulfillment issues with the AWOL Vision Aetherion Max. It has been over four months since payment in full, and AWOL Vision has failed to deliver a fully functional projector to my studio. The unit arrived with a triple factory defect: Broken 3D Synchronization: Active shutter 3D sync fails, causing heavy crosstalk and freezing playback during manual overrides. Support confirmed this requires a software patch that could take 2–3 months. Corrupt LightStream LED Panel: Flickering, dead, and corrupt LED beads straight out of the box. Stuck DMD Pixel: A permanent, static bright micromirror (DMD silicon hardware failure) on the optical light engine. After 6+ weeks of support emails, AWOL Vision refuses to ship an advanced replacement unit or provide an affirmative delivery date for a verified, defect-free machine. Instead of providing an inbound tracking number, they offer free T-shirts and screens while pushing open-ended warehouse return queues. Other Kickstarter backers are reporting similar hardware issues—including total red laser diode failures and unfulfilled support tickets spanning weeks. If you are experiencing similar issues or delayed warranty service on your Aetherion Max, feel free to comment or reach out directly so we can coordinate documentation for regulatory filings.
