CC Debt sent to Hunt and Henriques
My husband has 9 month old debt charged off from Chase Bank to Hunt and Henriques. We found out it was only sent to them last week from Chase. The debt has not officially entered H&H's system as when we called to confirm, the rep could only see it was in transition to them. They could not give us a hard date of when it would officially arrive in their system, giving a vague timeline of days to weeks.
My question is, we would most likely want to settle to get rid of it and start fresh without ongoing payments. The debt is not that old, is $10,200, and we are willing to settle immediately for around 40-50% of the total.
Once we receive the official letter from them saykng they are the debt collectors, should I let H&H give me their settlement offers first or immediately give them our offer? I'm trying to avoid any and all court or litigation. My husband was unemployed for almost two years and could not make payments, but he's recently got a job and can start paying into it again.
