Before I buy 2001

Hi noobie here.

Test drove a 2001 under 70k miles

Looks, sounds and drives like it's new. 5 speed manual smooth.

I seriously doubt the pre-cat issues have been delt with though. (I plan to have that done or swap it out if I buy this car)

I have no way of knowing if it burns oil or how much. But I see no blue smoke or smells of any kind.

How can I know if the damage is already done? I read I can pull the O2 sensors and see at least the health of the cat.

Any other tips / advice?

Rome was a huge let down and very overrated.

How do people like this place?

Trashy, graffiti filled, homeless, smelly, and expensive bland food.

It's like New Orleans but at least they have some food you can taste.

The Colosseum was awesome but I found most of Rome to be the most disgusting and disappointing place I've ever traveled.

I'm very glad we spent most of our time in other parts of Italy.

Do yourself a favor, and skip Rome or make it a 1 day stop to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
