Excessive power outages
7/1 update: Let’s turn this into an adventure. Requested an “outage audit report” from Xcel via customer service. They said it takes 6-8 business days to generate. Stay tuned.
Original: Hi all. I’ve lived in Columbia Heights for the past 6 years. Since moving here, we’ve experienced an ungodly amount of power outages. So many that Xcel even gave us a credit (a very small one) on a bill because we surpassed a certain number in 2025. This year we’ve already had 5 and I’m currently writing this from the pitch black of my living room at 10:45pm. I’m over it. I have an infant now and we have to have reliable power. This has gone beyond unreasonable. 1-2 a year at MOST is understandable. I looked at my auto text history from Xcel and we’ve had 12 in the past year according to notifications.
What can I do about this? I know step 1 is calling them, but am I ever going to be able to complain loud enough to get them to fix whatever infrastructure is causing this issue? I’m but a wee peasant to them.
Please help.
