I am 52 (F) and so is my old friend from college. We lost touch but some years back reconnected. We live in different cities and have only seen each other twice. She is a sweet lady. No kids. Got involved with drugs in college that’s why we lost touch. Cleaned up her act. Lives in expensive city in building her parents own but isn’t working now. I am well off enough but I am a widowed single mom. I was shocked when friend called asking to borrow $1,200 for unpaid tickets on car and some medical bills that came up. I said I have college tuition to pay and sent her $300 and said that’s all I can do. Now I am thinking that should be a parting gift. She must have noticed that I take my kids on vacations and live a relatively nice lifestyle. Nothing crazy. I am not rich but I am comfortable. Now I won’t ever feel free to talk about my life with her. Am I a bad person? I just don’t want this dynamic in my life.
