Restrictions on day before surgery?

My right eye is being done on Thursday (Odyssey lens). My pre-op appt was earlier this week and I received all instructions and was given eyedrops to use for the 2 days before.

Unfortunately I forgot to ask and now the office is closed for the holiday - my kids really want me to take them to Schlitterbahn (huge water park in TX) on the day before my surgery. This is the only day we can fit it in this summer and we have free passes. I was not given any “no swimming beforehand” instructions, and I can take the eyedrops with me and comply with that protocol like I would at home on the couch.

But I started wondering about water in the eye the day before??

Of note, most of the rides there use highly treated water but a few (at least as of my last visit a decade ago, who knows if it’s changed) use the natural spring-fed water from the river.

Thoughts??

PureSee vs Odyssey

Hello everyone,

I am in the not-so-lucky position of having a right cataract develop at the age of 48. I had a consult and am trying to decide between these two options. I will be doing both eyes.

From what I understand, it comes down to whether I want to have close up vision without reading glasses OR whether I want to have night vision without halos.

Does that sound like an accurate summation? Does it matter they I have astigmatism?

I do drive kids and teens around at night to extracurriculars but I find that my close up vision seems to be more necessary daily. I actually don’t even have reading glasses, I had been trying to monovision contacts (which I hated) when the cataract was discovered. I’m back to normal contacts now.

Today at the grocery store I could’ve even read the back of the oatmeal box, argh.

The posts here have been very helpful, thank you all. Even though my ophthalmologist office is well reviewed, I feel like I didn’t get enough time with my dr to get into all the details that feel necessary for this decision.

Any advice will be appreciated!
