Hey everyone,
I recently attended a headphone event and got to try the Ziigaat Odyssey 2, and honestly it matched my taste really well. I mainly listen to rock, guitar-heavy tracks (like Stairway to Heaven / Sweet Child O’ Mine), and some movie OSTs (Hans Zimmer etc.).
What stood out to me was how much the DAC changed the experience:
I first tried it on a basic dongle (BLON/JCALLY type) → felt a bit flat / “mid”

Then switched to the iBasso Macchiato → everything suddenly felt alive (better dynamics, separation, guitar texture)

From what I’ve seen online and on Reddit:
Odyssey 2 seems to be considered a balanced/warm all-rounder with strong mids and smooth treble .

Many people say it scales well with power and better sources .

Some also mention it can feel a bit “safe” or less exciting unless properly driven.

And that lines up with what I heard — it really came alive only with a better DAC.

My questions:
For those who own the Odyssey 2:
What DAC are you pairing it with?

Did you notice a big jump going from entry-level dongles to better DACs?

About the iBasso Macchiato:
Is it worth the price long-term?

Or are there DACs that give similar dynamics/energy for less?

Any DAC recommendations that pair well with Odyssey 2?
I’m currently considering things like FiiO KA15, Dawn Pro as alternatives to iBasso Macchiato due to budget.😅

Looking for something that keeps that “alive / dynamic” feeling I heard

Would really appreciate insights from people who’ve tried different DAC pairings with this IEM.
Trying to avoid overspending but also don’t want to lose that synergy I experienced ….
