Hi everyone,
I’m a 30-year-old Filipino male diagnosed with OAT. I had a varicocelectomy 3 months ago and just repeated my semen analysis. Unfortunately, my sperm count, motility, and morphology are still very low, with only minimal improvement.
My wife is 28, and we’ve been trying since 2018. We conceived naturally once in 2024, but it ended in a blighted ovum. I’m mainly looking for male experiences after varicocele surgery.
If you had OAT and a varicocelectomy:
Were your semen parameters still poor at 3 months?
When did you notice the biggest improvement—6 months, 9 months, or 12 months?
Did you eventually conceive naturally or need IUI/IVF?

Looking for success stories after varicocele surgery + OAT
Hi everyone,
We’re a Filipino couple looking for people who have had a similar experience and eventually conceived after varicocele surgery.
Our background:
Wife: 28 years old
Husband: 30 years old
We’ve been trying to conceive together since 2018 with no contraceptives.
Husband was diagnosed with OAT (oligoasthenoteratozoospermia) and underwent varicocele surgery.
We conceived naturally in 2024, but unfortunately it ended in a blighted ovum (miscarriage).
Wife has a 12-year-old child from a previous relationship, so this would be our first child together.
We repeated my husband’s semen analysis 3 months after surgery, and the results are still low, with only minimal improvement so far.
We’re feeling a bit discouraged and hoping to hear from others who have gone through the same journey.
For those who had OAT and underwent varicocele repair:
When did you start seeing significant improvement in your semen analysis?
Is it still possible to see major improvements after the 3-month mark, such as at 6, 9, or 12 months?
Were you eventually able to conceive naturally, or did you need IUI/IVF?
