Men Without Women - Scheherazade

Is there any other story where Habara and his Scheherazade appear? Do we ever get to know the story of her chance encounter with her childhood crush and his mother? Curiosity is killing me.

Confession: How I REALLY fell for Hou Minghao

C-dramas are my ultimate escape when I’m off the clock. My everyday life is pretty demanding, so I’m usually very selective about what I watch. Although I’d come across photos of Hou Minghao before while hunting for sketching references, I wasn’t really familiar with his filmography. Love in the Clouds was the first drama of his I ever picked up. He was fantastic in it, but that was that—I had a great time watching, wrapped it up, and went straight back to work.

Fast forward to my next break: I stumbled upon a clip from Fangs of Fortune featuring Cheng Lei and Hou Minghao and thought, "Oh, this looks incredible, let me check it out."

The rest is history.

Every once in a while, I fall helplessly hard for a fictional character. Before Zhu Yan, it was Gu Yanzhen (Arsenal Military Academy), then Yu Tu (You Are My Glory), then Jin Zhao (Speed and Love)—I have very specific reasons for each, but that’s a story for another post. The thing is, I’m always acutely aware that I’m falling for the character, not the actual human being playing them. My usual coping mechanism is simple: I aggressively scour the internet for everything about the actor until my brain registers that the real person is entirely distinct from the fictional role that temporarily hijacked my thoughts. Once that line is drawn, my brain snaps back to normal.

Funnily enough, I initially checked out Fangs of Fortune for Cheng Lei, not Hou Minghao. But from the second Zhu Yan appeared on screen, I knew I was in deep trouble.

When the finale rolled around, I genuinely had no idea what to do with my life. I hunted down every scrap of behind-the-scenes content on the internet, but my brain was still completely short-circuited. Out of sheer withdrawal, I put up a post elsewhere asking for recommendations to fill the void. That’s when u/No-Recipe-7653 kindly invited me to Hou Minghao sub and suggested I share it with this sub too. So I did—along with practically every piece of trivia and media I had uncovered during my deep dive.

Following my usual playbook, I started studying Hou Minghao, waiting for the moment reality would sink in, the illusion would break, and my brain could finally rest. Along the way, I ended up posting a ton of that research on reddit.

Boy, was I wrong.

For the first time ever, I fell for the actual person behind the character. I can’t pinpoint the exact moment the switch flipped—maybe it was watching him on Divas Hit the Road and realizing just how much emotional intelligence, grounding, and genuine empathy he carries. Or maybe it was seeing him sing live on stage, watching firsthand the relentless dedication he pours into chasing his real passion.

Whatever it was, I finally have an actor I respect and adore for who he is in real life, far beyond his most celebrated roles.

Zero regrets.

Confession: How I REALLY fell for Hou Minghao

If I said I wasn’t a Hou Minghao fan at all when I first joined this sub, I don’t know if anyone would believe me.

This scene from I am Nobody Season 1 🫰

Siblinghood, sorry I have been a bit busy lately with an upcoming lecture which I have to deliver, so I couldn't contribute actively here. I am here to make up for that. Digging up this old scene (and my favourite ship) of Wang Ye and Zhuge Qing from I am Nobody. Their chemistry was really something. Sad that this same actor didn't return to play Zhuge Qing in Season 2.

This hilarious snippet of the Fangs of Fortune Trio from a variety show 🤣

I found this snippet of our favourite Fangs of Fortune Trio from the variety show Wonderful Announcement Day with Fangs of Fortune, where they were asked to act out as a younger sister. Hou Minghao was so adorable, Tian Jiarui was mischievous and Yan An with such dramatic theatrics 🤣🤣🤣 This was such a laughing riot. For those who want to watch the entire stuff, sharing the link here

Happy Birthday Yang Yang 🎈

Happy 35th Birthday to Yang Yang - the perfect Face Card of the cdrama world. May you continue to rise and shine ❤️

I watched his dramas backwards starting from Fireworks of my heart. You are my Glory and Glory of Special Forces are my most favourite of his dramas. You are my Glory is mainly because his character Yu Tu resonated with me so much and Glory of Special Forces because, military dramas are always my weakness and Yang Yang has done a spectacular job in that one. Which one is your favourite Yang Yang drama?

Appreciating Key To The Phoenix Heart OST

I have already discussed the length and breadth of this drama, so I am not going to rant again. This post is to appreciate the beautiful, beautiful OST of this drama. There isn't a single track in this one that is below par. I don't even remember the last time I had all of the songs from an OST in my playlist. Such soulful music, perfectly fitting the epicness of this drama. For those who haven't listened to it yet, I am sharing the link to the playlist here.

How Zhu Yan and Zhou Yichen became my favourite ship ever

I started Fangs of Fortune just randomly one fine morning. They introduced Wen Xiao and a demoness. I was like - "Oh this is interesting". They introduced Zhu Yan, and I was totally sold by his aura. They introduced Zhou Yichen and I realised that this is going to be one hell of a journey. So as usual, I was enthusiastically waiting to ship Zhu Yan with Wen Xiao. Then comes Zhou Yichen, and he always wedges himself between Zhu Yan and Wen Xiao. My very innocent straight brain was like - 'oh, Zhou Yichen must like Wen Xiao so he doesn't want the great demon to steal her from him'. After a while it dawned upon me. It was like K-Will's song "Please don't". My jaws dropped when I realised that I am shipping the wrong people. For those who haven't watched that music video, I am sharing it here. Then onwards I started watching it from a completely new perspective. I have never rooted for anyone like I did for Zhu Yan and Zhou Yichen. I guess I am never getting over this drama ever.

This funny BTS video from Key To The Phoenix Heart

People who are missing Xiao Wuyi Yi assemble! Here is a funny BTS from Key To the Phoenix Heart. Enjoy!

The original Mandarin translation for "she got captivated by your gaze" is actually "she got electrocuted by your gaze". It is good that I started to understand Mandarin. Original dialogues are way more beautiful than the translations.
