Coming down off 2 Shikari shows in 3 days
I’ll try to limit the setlist spoilers for those bothered by that.
I jumped at the opportunity to catch the recent shows in Melbourne and Frankston. I’ve backed up festival sets and headline sets, but never had two shows within a couple of hours of where I live before.
They sprinkled in some new tunes, but missed my two favourites from the new album, as well as another I’d probably consider in my top-5. Nothing from Flash Flood - my favourite album.
None of that mattered. A sprinkling of pre-Spark songs was a delight, but every song just hit whether old or new. Being in a crowd with other fans of the band remains one of the most unifying gig experiences I’ve had. The lads looked like they’re having fun up there and still have the chemistry and the energy that has consistently seen them considered as one of the best live bands in the scene.
I feel for the North American fans who’ve had the recent tour cancelled and hope you get a chance to catch these shows in the near future.
