Things everyone should do in their first 2–3 months at IIT Delhi 🎓
As a senior, I feel the first few months at IIT Delhi shape a lot of your college experience. You don't have to do everything, but if you can, try to:
Join at least one club or board (don't overcommit).
Participate in a hackathon, coding contest, case competition, research project, design challenge, or any event that matches your interests.
Explore the campus and its iconic spots—Amul Tea Corner, CCD Rajdhani, Nalanda, SAC, and your hostel canteens. Also check out nearby places like Hauz Khas Village, Satya Niketan, and SDA Market.
Talk to people outside your hostel, branch, and batch. Some of the best friendships happen this way.
Build genuine connections with seniors—they can help with academics, internships, research, placements, and navigating campus life.
Attend Rendezvous, Tryst, hostel nights, board events, and departmental fests.
Network with students from other IITs, NITs, and colleges during competitions and festivals.
Say yes to random plans once in a while—late-night chai at Amul, coffee at CCD Rajdhani, hostel rooftop conversations, or a 2 AM campus walk often become your best memories.
Find a study group before quizzes and midsems begin.
Get familiar with the Central Library, SAC, Sports Complex, lecture halls, labs, and makerspaces.
Click lots of pictures around Dogra Hall, Main Building, Jwalamukhi lawns, and your hostel before everything starts feeling "normal."
Try something you've never done before—public speaking, organizing events, open-source, entrepreneurship, music, dramatics, dance, or volunteering.
Start building your skills early—projects, research, competitive programming, design, finance, or whatever excites you. Don't chase your resume at the cost of enjoying college.
Maintain a balance between academics, extracurriculars, fitness, and sleep. Burnout isn't a badge of honor.
You don't need to have your whole life figured out in your first semester. Just stay curious, meet people, take initiative, and make the most of everything IIT Delhi has to offer.
Bonus: Your CGPA matters, but so do your skills, projects, friendships, memories, and experiences. The people you meet and the things you build often stay with you much longer than any grade.
