Anyway, Summer II is dead. That really is a surprise.
Oh boy, three articles in a day. I’m writing like a man possessed. Why am I grave robbing an old article?
Well, it partially comes down to stats. Normally my “Baldr Takeovers” where I write Baldr’s articles as Baldr herself actually do really well and go down a hit - so when Summer Baldr’s article dropped and, bluntly, went down like a lead balloon wearing concrete shoes, I was certainly very surprised.
So I got some feedback, and some of the feedback was that despite their overall fun tones, it could be difficult to actually decipher what I’m on about because I’m restricting what I’m able to write based on sticking too faithfully to the character. As such, I came to this solution.
Whilst I give it some time to let Jörmungandr cook, I’m going to be revisiting the original articles for:
- Mythic Baldr
- Mythic Höðr
- Brave Baldr
- Mythic Heimdallr
- Mythic Váli
- Mythic Alfaðör
And I’ll be making “Medhaos Versions” whilst leaving the old ones up. I won’t fundamentally change the content of them unless there’s something really meaningful, just a small update to sample teams and stuff.
The Medhaos Version of Summer Baldr should drop tomorrow.

Whew. Writing for two characters at a time is quite a challenge. I also wanted to include more of Váli in here unlike Höðr who sat more in the background last time.
So I wrote this as more of a “Váli is Baldr’s hypegirl”. I really hope this turns out well because the last time I wrote an article as two characters to this extent, it frankly turned out terribly.

Apologies for the brief hiatus.
I found out last Tuesday that my grandma did not survive her operation. I was having a bit of difficulty writing stuff regardless and I wasn’t exactly swimming in motivation beforehand, but that really did the motivation in. Oh well, a reset and a Fathers Day outing or two and we’ve got ourselves a nice mental refresh.
With any luck, I’ll have some good stuff to put out very soon. I plan to finish off Neimi’s article and then move onto Summer. Expect Baldr’s article soon, this is your moment to…

A lesser known fact for the non-SD players who barely touch the mode, but once you hit Rank 1 / Master A / 7300, your score cannot go down for any reason.
You can legitimately instant surrender a game and you will lose nothing from doing so once you hit Master A / 7300. Some Rank 1 players will usually just queue up and instant surrender or will occasionally attempt to co-ordinate with others to try and boost the other player’s rank up (this is much easier said than done in practice and is basically a non-issue), however there are a not-insignificant number that are referred to as “Gatekeepers” (not the unit, but the concept) who are basically just Rank 1 players who will queue back up after hitting Rank 1 with the sole intent of stopping other people from climbing. I actually managed to hit five consecutive Gatekeepers on my SDS run and lost to three of them because they ignored my attempt to offer a tie (instant end turn on Turn 1)
This creates a franky very stupid situation where one player can face entirely losing access to the mode for losing the game, and the other player can suffer zero consequences whatsoever for losing the same game. I think almost anyone here can agree regardless of your views on Summoner Duels as a gamemode that this is really stupid and shouldn’t be happening.
I would encourage people to send feedback to the devs to get them to remedy this situation. I have done this myself - because even having reached Rank 1 myself on SDS before, the lack of consequences for the Rank 1 player after the fact is frankly obnoxious.

Missed the free pick like a silly sausage, and thanks to the Mega Lucario free licence, I have now accumulated enough Licence Points to get a free Feraligatr immediately…when it becomes available.

I had a request from one of the regular denizens of The Summoning Stone Discord (someone who has the rather brilliant name of “pleasant peasant pheasant”) for tooltips to be added to the site.
Now admittedly, I was not able to do this primarily because the work required to pull it off would’ve likely been unsustainable (and would’ve required a pretty significant cost as well). So I’ve instead opted for a halfway point - which is this rather big Effects Dictionary. This will be accessible from all of the navigation menus for the sites that have them (and the sites that don’t are going to be worked on within the near future to fix that, so don’t worry 🙂)
If you do spot any mistakes, please do let me know. Some people have already pointed out a few because there are just far too many effects, and I hope this helps regarding navigating some of the terms I’ll be throwing around within my articles.

First off, I think the content output is likely to be a bit slower, but that is in part due to two collaborations that’ll take place for a refine and a new hero analysis (bonus points if you guess who’s who). Also I turn 28 on Wednesday. That’ll be fun.
Second off, I previously mentioned that I had stepped back as a moderator back in January, however I had since come back in what was planned to be a temporary capacity and resumed being a moderator for both the FEH & Shadows subreddits. I’m confirming now that I’ve now fully resigned from being a mod in both - you won’t find me on the mod list anymore for either, we are back to being a regular citizen.
Big thanks to the rest of the mod team for being with me on the ride. They’re all good people, and I want to make it clear (again) that this decision had nothing to do with them.
