I wouldn't mind if the Duffer brothers do go ahead with the Death Note adaptation
Worst case scenario it flops and all of the great content in the Death Note franchise isn't ruined. It's kinda like the Netflix movie, yeah it sucked but was it really that damaging to Death Note as a franchise? Id argue it wasn't. I heard Stranger Things was pretty good at the start. If this is limited to maybe 2 16 episode seasons it could be good. I kinda hope they try, or someone attempts it. Also best case scenario and we have got a peak adaptation on our hands.
How does the notebook actually never run out of pages?
Does it just grow a page whenever one is used or something, I feel like a notebook user would notice that.
Can a name actually be written with 2 different types of ink?
In the finale, after Matsuda shoots Light for the first time he tries to write Near's last name with his blood. But I'm wondering if it would even work as Light's pen and blood are 2 different "inks". We know blood works as ink as he used it to kill Higuchi but I don't think we've seen whether 2 different inks work. Maybe we can just assume it does considering Light's attempt was something that was written into the story.
My Task Force IQ ranking (Minus Light and L)
- Shuichi Aizawa
Is the only one to outsmart Light in anyway by leaving a mark on the notes in the hotel and is the first in Part 2 to actually consider that Light is Kira. Also takes his Job more seriously than everyone else here apart from Soichiro.
- Soichiro Yagami
The fact that Soichiro is Chief of the NPA and father of the 2nd smartest character inverse (in my opinion) already gives Soichiro credit. Soichiro pulls his weight more than anyone else on this list during the Yotsuba Arc imo. He is also able to remain composed enough not to get Sayu killed when handing over the Notebook. I can't really name that many feats that Soichiro has but the his standing and the fact that he's very professional put him here for me. The main reason he isn't top is due to him not being able to put his biases aside when Light is a suspect, which is understandable.
- Kanzo Mogi
Mogi joined Aizawa in searching Light and Misa's home as he also had suspicions about Light, he was the only one who decided it would be a good idea to arrest Light before he tried to pull anything else (although laid off after Light resisted). He's also a good professional and a good cook according to Misa which in my opinion boosts his intelligence marginally.
- Touta Matsuda
Matsuda is portrayed as a lot more stupid than he is (the same as Misa) but he really isn't stupid and honestly has a couple feats. For one while he took a big risk he was able to keep his cool when he was caught at the Yotsuba building and was able to create a cover story quickly, and was able to understand what L was trying to ask him when he called (although I feel like most of us would). He was then able to convincingly act drunk to get away and properly talk to L and executed his plan well, it is insanely difficult to calculate where to fall off a building to land at the exact spot you need to. This entire plan from Matsuda also gove the opportunity to install cameras and wire taps. Later on Matsuda is able to keep talking on Sakura TV long enough for Higuchi to give L enough evidence. He's also the one to save Near in the end, being the only one to not freeze and actually shoot Light, which requires competence. Although Matsuda does tend to be wrong about a lot at least he makes an effort to engage in the Kira investigation. That and the fact that he's so easily distracted by Light's friends when they go to Aoyoma is why he isn't higher
- Hideki Ide
Ide doesn't have a great attitude, he easily gave up on working on L and seems immature like Matsuda in Part 2, although I think he's a little more mature. He did well to help Aizawa organize the NPA for Higuchi's arrest so I won't put him last.
- Hirokazu Ukita
Seems competant but also a little immature, it was kinda stupid to head to Sakura TV without a mask as even if Kira couldn't know his name he was still giving his face up. Goes last but he's probably not stupid overall considering he was part of the police in the first place.
I might be wrong with my ranking and reasoning here but this was fun to make.
Please Ryuk, I'll do anything!
I will fucking suck your dick. You want me to eat your shit? I will eat your fucking shit.
The Manga tried a couple with 2 one-shots which I thought was pretty cool. I feel like as long as it doesn't affect the original story too much it could work. Something set in modern day maybe? Or a prequel, although I'm not sure that would be as compelling. Or even maybe the one-shots being adapted as a one off might be cool.
