What’s y’all’s craziest adventures with the local wildlife at work

I can give 2 short stories first, we had a badger come in for a self paced build tour thanks to a teacher leaving a door open. It took over 6 hours to track down and remove from the building with animal control because of course it was small enough it didn’t trigger the motion detection on the security cameras.

Number 2 was much more recent. We were just getting the day started when my phone goes off. My neighbor was calling me to inform me that they had brought my dog inside since there was a black bear in my front yard. Ok that’s a new one but I don’t expect it to come to my work 1/4 mile away. Well about 10 minutes later we are told that we need to make certain that the gates are locked as this bear is now sitting in front of the bus lane at the middle school across the street from us. Then we start getting videos from the kids at the middle school who were arriving in busses and are now just sitting in the road watching this bear and waiting for the sheriff’s office to arrive with a borrowed loader so when they tranq this bear they can lift it into a trailer so it can be relocated because of course animal control is only equipped for up to large dogs here locally so they have to somehow move a monster black bear with just what can be found locally or wait 3 hours for the nearest proper equipment. We ended up delayed start by 4 hours that day

Where to start cleaning a new to me car

Purchasing a used car from my mother she said she would knock quite a bit off the price if I take care of cleaning it up for her not gonna post the exact number, but let’s just say I feel that it is fair. It is more than I make a week that she would knock off the price since if she tried to do a private sale anywhere else she would have to spend that or more to get this thing cleaned and I don’t know where to start the final picture gives you an idea of how I try to keep my vehicles that is my truck that I’ve been driving for five years and it does need some love. I need to vacuum it and go through it with something and just clean all the dust out, but it doesn’t have like this thick layer of nasty grime. It is mostly just dust. I was an idiot last week and was driving down dirt roads with the window open. I had it clean a few weeks ago and I need to clean it again in terms of experienced. I am actually a custodian so I know my way around cleaning certain things like cleaning the carpets no problem getting the glass to look nice piece of cake but cleaning all these little nooks and crannies is not something I have the tools for I don’t know what I’m looking for. I don’t know where I should start on cleaning this car of the tools I can think of that would actually be useful that I own. I have a handheld steam cleaner. It is just a harbor freight one, but it’s still something. I also have a Bissell big green machine with a wand that I can do all the carpets with and I know I can get them clean. I have a good shop vac and a good sized air compressor is there any other tools like that? There’s a decent chance I do have them just ask the exterior doesn’t look too bad at all and I am not looking to get this car Perfect. I just want it to look presentable. I want to get the grease in the grime off the steering wheel so that I can pick up somebody in the car and it not feel disgusting because I don’t like my cars to be this filthy. My truck desperately needs to be clean and it is 100 times cleaner than this car, but where should I start? I do know that a couple of plastic panels that you see removed are actually broken. I know what broke most of them because as I said, this was my mom‘s car and mechanically this car is in amazing condition. It just is not very clean taking the pictures. I think I set my hand in soda at some point. I also do not have to worry about keeping it drivable during the cleaning process. I still have the truck I can use to get places.

I realized I forgot to mention in the post I’m wanting to do what I can now because I can’t afford to get this thing detailed for at least a couple of months, but I do have time to work on it a good bit myself so in between fixing some of the random little issues like the side of the driver seat that needs to be replaced I wanted to be able to clean up the car a bit I’m not worried about a showroom quality clean just an improvement from the this car hasn’t been deep cleaned in 15 years that it is now I think the most thorough cleaning this car has had outside of glass was maybe when I extracted soda out of the passenger side floorboard years ago

Edit 2 thanks for all the suggestions so far as of right now my plan is to pull all the rugs out. Take my air compressor and blow down everything really quick to get the bulk of the dust down on the floor vacuum really quickly. Nothing super thorough yet on that just get some of the big debris that you see on the floor cleaned up so that I can move around and work on this car without kicking it all up and then started the top on the headliner, which shouldn’t take too long. It’s not very bad at all. I didn’t take any pictures of it, but this is a car that drove around kids and grandkids. Hence the reason there’s food all over the floor then I will move down probably do the dash and doors and stuff like that next then hit the seats and finally re-vacuum the floor thoroughly this time and run my carpet extractor

New head unit advice

I just bought a 2012 Chevy traverse that needs a new head unit. It has the Bose audio system that came as a option in that generation of vehicles, the speakers are still good. The head unit has just decided that ox inputs are no longer a nice thing and the navigation is ridiculously expensive to keep working so I would like to update it to something that can run CarPlay. I would like some advice on what to look at here and not break the bank. I am a broke college student level budget here. I am experienced in electrical and wiring, not necessarily sound systems specifically, but I did rewire the entire sound system on my truck so I’m not too concerned with having to do a little bit of work. My truck is running a boss UAB 616 right now and I am more than happy with the audio quality I get out of it if I get something similar out of the car, I would be happy with it. It doesn’t have to be perfect. I do want to keep some of the original functionality specifically the steering wheel volume controls and pause play that stuff that is on the wheel of that car and the backup camera that car also has a rear seat control. I don’t care if it continues to work or not I do definitely prefer having a physical control for volume but for the right price I could go with just buttons on a touchscreen or something. I’m happy to give any more info that’s needed. I honestly don’t know a ton about this. I’m also not one that is going to lose my mind if I have to do troubleshooting

I also just realized I forgot to add originally I am hoping to go wireless on the CarPlay connection. The current radio kind of works when it’s wired, but I really I’m not a fan of dealing with a wired connection like that

Was told you guys would appreciate this

Yes, that is three ladders making a gantry crane with a couple of ratchet straps so I could do door pins 99% of the time the floor jack was under this door just holding the weight
