Considering teachers college and would like some brutally honest advice.
Hello! I have recently considered teachers college after becoming a TA during my undergrad. I really enjoyed it but I also understand that teaching university students is very different from teaching K-12. I would like some brutally honest advice on my chances of getting in and the job market in the GTA. Disclaimer: this post is going to make me look very picky but I am not in the best financial position and would prefer to stay as close to home as possible.
I graduated as a sociology major with a 3.80 cgpa. I was the president of an academic club, a TA, did a few short-term marketing roles, have 5+ years of customer service/retail, and did some freelance tutoring. I am avoiding doing the casper and schools that require it are pretty competitive so I think that works out in my favour. My top choices were the oise MT, York, and WLU but after perusing reddit I don't feel like I am a very competitive applicant. I honestly just want to know if its even worth it for me to apply or if I would immediately get rejected (some people have insane stats and thousands of hours of experience). I am also worried about not being able to find a job in the GTA after.
I apologize if this is all over the place! Would appreciate anyone who could give me some advice. Thanks in advance.
