any other cancers just cut most people off during a difficult season?

after a year of multiple losses at once, i’ve taken a good hard look at my life and relationships and sadly most were out of alignment. i don’t know if it’s because I’m hypersensitive to reciprocity and consistency at the moment or if i have just grown out of them, but this is tough because I’m really wanting to reconnect, but not at the cost of hiding myself or over-giving. can anyone else relate and how do you navigate this?

the perpetual dilemma of whether to charge that late cancellation fee or not

i have a pretty standard 24 hour cancellation policy in my pp, with some flexibility for rescheduling if mutual scheduling allows. one of my clients cancelled a couple of hours before session because their pet unexpectedly passed, which is horrible and understandable, so i offered two alternate slots two days out. two days pass and i assume we are not meeting at this point, but then they reach out and asked to meet during one of the slots i offered but since filled with personal self-care, and they couldn't swing the other one. i am torn because i have offered this client lots of historical flexibility due to their current life stressors as they are very committed to therapy in spite of things, but things are tight and i can't afford to absorb the lost session cost at this point even though i feel terrible about charging. sanity check me, please?
