Neurologist ordered both brain and spinal mri at appointment advice please

I started experiencing symptoms of MS in around September of 2024 although at that time I did not think it is be ms I thought all
Of my symptoms were singular things and not actually connected, in February 2025 I started to connect the dots and think that this could actually be MS or something neurological, my gp did a referral for neurology but it was rejected. In the summer of 2025 was the height of when my symptoms got really bad I went back to my GP distraught and almost begged for a neurology referral, gp made the referral and this time it was not rejected and now in October 2026 I finally got the appointment, I talked through my symptoms with the neurologist I had a list of timeline of event and also copies of all my consultation appointments with the GP over the years. The neurologist almost immediately said he would send me for a brain and spinal MRI I was shocked in some way I was expecting him to suggest we do a blood panel first as to rule out any other conditions, I just want to see if this is normal for those who have been diagnosed with ms?

Briefly My symptoms are but not limited to:
Speech and memory issues
Difficulty swallowing
Back pain
Leg pain
Foot drop
Lhermitte’s sign
Eye pain
Legs feeling very heavy like I have weights on them
Bladder issues
Ms hug

Any advice would be greatly appreciated
