How bad are the midges and ticks around the Glen Nevis campsite right now?

I booked a tent pitch for this weekend, but only then realised that I hadn't bought anything to protect against insects. Looking at the forecast, it's supposed to be around 12°C with 15 mph winds, so it doesn't seem like ideal weather for midges or other insects. However, has anyone been camping there recently? If the midges are still bad, I'd probably change my booking to a different campsite (any suggestions are welcome)

How common are complications after natural childbirth, really?

Sorry, I'm going to call some things by their plain names going forward, since I don't know how to phrase this more delicately. So, I can't figure out how common the most supposedly common symptoms after natural childbirth actually are - namely incontinence/leakage, hemorrhoid problems, uterine prolapse, and poor/imperfect healing of tears that then continues to cause issues for years afterward.

From what I sense, each of these symptoms occurs in roughly 20-30% of cases on average, which is a lot. Is that accurate?

Why does society seem weirdly quiet about first-trimester symptoms?

I’m halfway through my seventh week, and I’ve been dealing with morning sickness for about a week and a half now. Apparently, I have one of the mildest forms — I’m not vomiting and haven’t thrown up even once (which is actually surprising, because in everyday life I can throw up pretty easily if something disgusts me). Basically, my symptoms are just constant nausea and a complete lack of energy.

I can’t objectively measure how severe the nausea is, but I’d say it bothers me more because it never goes away than because it’s particularly intense. Even with such a mild case, and considering I’m only 7.5 weeks along, I am unbelievably exhausted.

The one thought that keeps running through my head is: why does nobody talk about this? Why aren’t women all over the world complaining about it 24/7? Why is there so little awareness of what it’s actually like?

Honestly, until now, I imagined morning sickness as two or three sudden bouts of vomiting a day, not this constant, relentless nausea. And how do women decide to have a second or third child? Anything beyond two is completely beyond my understanding — it seems like something you’d only do for religious reasons.

I genuinely don’t understand women who end up pregnant with a third child “by accident.” Once you’ve had the number of children you want, the most sensible thing seems to be either getting your tubes tied or becoming EXTREMELY vigilant!

Anyway, I have so many questions and not a single answer. It seems to me that one of feminism’s top priorities should be securing paid leave for at least a few weeks during the first trimester. Yes, I understand why that’s unlikely to happen (too many pregnancies don’t continue) — but it’s definitely something worth thinking about.

No sickness at all 5w3d - but something is tasteless - is it ok?

Is this normal to not only not to have nausea and sickness at 5.5w, but actually be partially tasteless? My favorite orange San pellegrino tastes like a water with vitamin c.
I’d appreciate your opinion!
