Hello everyone!

I'm just getting into playing Night Lords after playing a lot of chaos knights and loyalist marines. My local playgroup is very competitive, and everyone tends to build strong lists that reflect currently popular units.

I just picked up a Nemesis Claw and Night Lords Combat Patrol, and I'd ideally like to use as many of those models as possible. I'd also prefer to stick to the night lords theme and avoid more daemonic units (so ideally no Defiler, for example). I'm going to use a converted contemptor dreadnought for the helbrute in the current list, and I have a plan to convert some Gravis units into the plague marines.

Is this a good setup? Can anyone recommend changes to make the list more competitive (and ideally more 'night lords' in theme, like battleshock interactions and flying units)?

Just finished my GRE with 165 verbal / 167 quant. Here's my big takeaway, having done essentially no prep or former research before it:

The GRE is, first and foremost, an english proficiency test. It covers aspects of geometry and vocabulary - don't get me wrong, it's useful to know what a 30-60-90 triangle is - but the biggest threat on this test is time.

I've always been a fast reader and a faster test taker, and the GRE is one of the only tests that I've timed out on during the second pass-through of one of the sections. (Verbal I, I believe.) I only checked 8 of 12 questions. This really caught me off guard, because I'm not used to timing that tight.

The biggest thing is moving quickly. Learning to read fast is a skill built over months or years, not something you can cram for - I think reading fiction books as a hobby helped a lot with picking up obscure vocabulary and, again, general speed. I'm sure nonfiction in whatever subject matters you all pursue would help as well.
