Scientists live in your city
Hello! I’m a scientist for the state of CA and I live in EG. I’m not sure everyone is aware of what’s happening and wanted to offer resources. To recap:
Newsom implemented an RTO mandate for state workers and took away scientists’ contracted raise. For context, this raise is low and I’d receive about $135 but the cost to taxpayers for implementing RTO is very high ($225 million by the state’s own data). Yes, RTO and raises may not matter to you, but they should because the governor refused to bargain with unions over RTO and the 3% raise was approved in our contract that he signed last year. This is a HUGE threat to unions across the state because the governor is acting like a king and refusing to follow legal political processes. Additionally, I don’t want my taxes going to building leases and office space when it could go to things like improving the homelessness crisis and education!
