Why the Proposed Rancho San Pasqual / Dos Osos RV Resort Amendment Is a Bad Idea

Saw this on the dc thought I'd share:

*I recently learned about the proposed amendment to the Rancho San Pasqual Specific Plan that would allow the Dos Osos RV Resort and Golf Club project to move forward in Escondido. The City Council recently voted to continue processing the amendment, but that doesn't mean residents shouldn't speak up.

In my opinion, this proposal raises several serious concerns:

Traffic: The roads in and around Rancho San Pasqual are already limited. Adding a large RV resort could increase congestion and make emergency access more difficult.

Wildfire risk: This area has a long history of wildfire danger. Concentrating more visitors and vehicles in a high fire-risk zone could create additional safety concerns.

Emergency evacuation: During a wildfire or other emergency, more RVs and visitors could complicate evacuations on roads that already have limited capacity.

Environmental impacts: The project could affect open space, wildlife habitat, and the rural character that makes Rancho San Pasqual unique.

Quality of life: Residents bought homes expecting a quieter golf community, not a large commercial RV destination.

Growth should be carefully planned, but not at the expense of public safety or the character of an established neighborhood. I hope the required environmental review fully examines traffic, fire safety, evacuation routes, water use, and impacts on nearby residents before any final approvals are considered.

What do other Escondido and Rancho San Pasqual residents think about this proposal? I'd like to hear different perspectives. *
