Market - Good sale items

Trying to figure out things that actually sell. I'm in the beginning-ish of T2.

What items do you all sell and make that will actually get sold. It's been great for me buying tin, copper, peat, and logs. But haven't figured out any good selling items yet. What should I be looking into?

Can villagers not collect wood in the wintertime?

My villagers are all idle when there is a top-up order for wood that isn't nearly completed. They have axes. Have battle axes as a weapon as well. They've been doing the top-up order just fine before. Never noticed any day or didn't get done. Now they are suddenly ignoring the wood and just standing around idle.

If I go to the stockpile and grab all the river reeds I can, so that top-up order needs to be fulfilled, they all immediately go gather reeds. But wood they are completely ignoring.

Any suggestions? I've checked all my storage, and there isn't any wood hiding in any of them.

Early battle advice

As the title says, any advice for battling early. At the simple axe stage, is my only real option flight? Poor Lubrimir has gone down about ten times now. Not to mention a healthy dose of reloads.

What are the tricks to getting the fighting in this game? Is it strictly "have more followers"? Or just deal with the crushing defeats until I tech up decent gear? Or until I can actually recruit a decent force?

I'd like to settle the places I want, and actually deal with the bandits rather than cower in safe fields. But early, early this seems like it might be a non-starter. Was there something in combat that made it work for you? What helped you "get gud"? Cuz I apparently suck at it.
