This might be controversial but….

I never messed with the idea that aang had to specifically let go of katara to master/be able to enter the avatar state on his own. To me, it just didn’t make a whole lot of sense that it was his love for katara keeping him from going into the avatar state at will. Furthermore, it always made me think “oh so his love for appa, the air nomads, & sokka was weaker than his love for katara?” (Actually it makes sense he’d love katara more than sokka lol)

It’s also part of the reason why I really enjoyed NATLA establishing that he can go into the avatar state at will, but he will have less control over his actions until he masters all the elements. This is not to say I think aang shouldn’t have a strong attachment to Katara, Infact I’d be pissed if he didn’t. It’s just his love for katara shouldn’t be the lock on the proverbial avatar state door if that makes sense?

Now despite me loving the stuff they did establish in the finale, I do think the astral aang stuff kinda had less of an impact because of the lack of the guru, and I feel they could’ve done something else to give the scene more weight narratively speaking, but I’ll take what I can get lol. It’s also why I think NATLA would’ve benefited from keeping the 8 eps so we wouldn’t run into these types of issues.

But yea, this is just my quick thoughts. What do yall think?

Kataras waterbending movements

I muted the last post cuz my notifs were blowing up lol but a common thing I saw was the claim that kataras movements weren’t matching the way the water moves. I think the issue is that the clip goes fast so it’s harder to catch but the water is mimicking what katara is doing. I slowed down the clips so it’s easier to see. The first part kataras hand is pulling the water back towards her and then she goes into a motion to have the water circle her body. Then when we pan out to the wide shot, as kataras hand moves up so does the water. As kataras hand moves down so does the water. It’s not just doing whatever, it’s copying Katara. I’m not saying yall are crazy or whatever, just offering different perspective

All new clips that Netflix released on the app!

We will be getting new clips periodically throughout the week leading up to the release on Thursday!

(Apologies for the lower quality, Reddit tends to do that to videos)

New promo material!

Miyako teaching the cast to earthbend and we get a look at a new move where toph puts a skirt on the boulder and I think that’s utterly hilarious 🤣🤣

Happy 1 year anniversary to the httyd live action!

The feeling of joy I felt when I watched this film last year was unlike anything else. It was such a treat to be transported back into the world I grew up loving and I truly felt they kept the heart and soul of the original which is something I greatly appreciated. Visuals, characters, everything in between were all amazing to me and I’m forever grateful of the love and care put into making this movie. Very excited for the 2nd film coming in 2027!!!

If episodes that are lesser in the grand scheme of things are cut like avatar day, tales of ba sing se, and cave of 2 lovers since they already used that, then this should be more than enough time to get through the rest of book 2’s plot. Will it be done well? We shall see in less than 2 weeks

New waterbending featurette

Seems they are indeed keeping iroh explaining the other elements, just possibly switching up the dialogue a bit. I imagine we’re getting one for each element over the course of these next few days
