What to expect as a newcomer

Hi all,

I recently turned 18, and have been accepted a place in the Level 3 railway engineering technician - signalling, starting in august, just passed my medical, drug and alcohol test.

What are shift patterns like in years 2-3 and when I start?
What does a typical day look like?
What sorts of things does signalling involve that other specialties don’t, and do you enjoy signalling?

I’m really excited to start, so any advice or info that I could use would be a great help and much appreciated.
