What is up with this goodreads author?
I might be missing something here, but I'm really confused right now and I wonder if anyone here can shed some light. I'm not super into goodreads besides using it once a couple of months to log my reading, so I have no idea if this is a common thing or what is happening here, but I'm curious. There is a goodreads page I stumbled on by acciddent that I can't make heads or tails of. They're a goodreads author (their url is author/show, not user/show like it is for regular users), but all their books are nonsense books all titled the same way (They're called Test Book followed by random nouns). They're unavailable for purchase, and they're all exactly 1000 pages. Clearly, they're not real books. Looking at the statistics for the books posted, they all seem to have been uploaded in december 2025 (even though at least one of the books proports to have been published in 2018). Almost all of the books have between five and twenty reviews, and some have a lot of comments/reviews. Some of them read like spam (ie user with one review and a generic name gives a book five stars and says "good book"), however, other seem to have been written by active users with many reviews for other, normal books. Some comments also seem to be sarcastic/joking, as they reference the title of the book, or the author. The comments also vary in when they were posted. I might be misreading the statistics page, because a lot of the comments were made before the books were published. There are comments from between 2020 and a few weeks ago. I also noticed that a lot of the users commenting were from the same state, and were created in the same month. The author page is also nonsense (he says he was born over 500 years ago, has an obviously joking backstory, etc.) but I guess this can just be someone's humor. Has this page been hacked, or is this one person just making a ton of users and commenting on their own books for no good reason? How can this be a goodreads author with the stamp of approval next to their name if they have no real books?
