The Portal, Paul Jacobsen, Germantown

A local Germantown artist, Paul Jacobsen, has created an 18ft infinity pyramid sculpture which he has called "The Portal". The scale is hard to see in the photos but it's pretty big. It's supposed to blend with the surroundings almost as part of the land art movement. It's open for anyone to visit, a pretty cool spot for some photos. You can walk inside and

It has some really fun acoustics too. You can visit it at the Gatherwild Ranch in Germantown.

Do I need a 3 shoe rotation? What's the perfect non flashy daily I should get?

I currently have a 3 shoe rotation, do I really need a 3 shoe rotation? Convince me otherwise. I think it makes sense but somehow I have ended up with the wrong shoe balance in my rotation.

I currently run Norwegian singles model, every day, about 80-90kms a week. My threshold workouts are around 4:15-4:30 min/km. I'm not training for anything in particular.

Here is my current rotation.

1 - Megablast - love them for everything. Don't think I can afford to use them for slower runs. They feel great at any pace though.

2 - Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 - I liked the ES4 better than these, they were snappier and more fun. The ES5 I use for some workouts but I never feel too excited about running in them. I end up using them for slower runs because I don't have a true daily shoe for these.

3 - Evo SL - I loved this shoe when it first came out, but somehow I lost interest. I have run over 2500kms in multiple pairs. At one point I used them for slow, long and interval runs. But now I don't seem to enjoy the unstable nature of them. I don't enjoy running in them for more than an hour or intervals over 4 mins. I barely reach for them anymore.

What I think I need....

1- A dedicated "boring" non-flashy daily workhorse that I can use for my slow days. Nothing too max cushion.

2- Maybe another fast shoe that does something a little different to the Megablast? Potentially plated? But it wouldn't have to be.

3 - Megablast.

Other shoes I have owned.

Vomero plus - they are very comfortable. They are too soft for me. I liked them initially but they led me to develop posterior tibial tendonitis. Max cushion shoes like this are not really for me.

Mach 5 & 6 - Liked both of these a lot. Went through multiple pairs. No nonsense shoes. They can do a bit of everything. Nothing too exciting. They do wear out pretty quickly so I stopped buying them. Have not tried the 7.

Brooks Hyperion - really did not like these.

ES4 - I enjoyed these and owned multiple pairs. Overall I really like the fit of Saucony shoes.

NB rebel V4 - these are fine, I was never too excited about them. They never excited me like the EVO SL initially. They died on me pretty early.
