WARNING: Staff at Adora Learning Academy (Alpharetta, GA) was charged with felony child cruelty after slamming a 2-year-old to the floor — owner refuses refund and has shown no accountability
We enrolled our two year old son at Adora Learning Academy in Alpharetta and experienced a deeply disturbing situation involving a staff member that occurred in October 2025.
The teacher involved was charged with a felony of child cruelty and a misdemeanor of aggravated battery. The police, DECAL, and DFACS investigated and substantiated the incident. DECAL fined Adora and described the incident as our child "was roughly handled when a staff member grabbed the child by both arms and slammed the child to the floor, resulting in a minor head injury that required professional medical attention." The incident was captured on video. Even so, Adora's director initially attempted to downplay the incident and describe it in a misleading way. Before our incident, we had no idea that DECAL previously found Adora "staff failed to provide adequate supervision in the three-year-old classroom when a child inappropriately touched another child" related to another incident in 2025.
What has been most troubling beyond the incident itself is the owner's complete lack of accountability or remorse. He has been unresponsive to our family throughout this process, except for his refusal to refund tuition based on Adora's withdrawal requirement that the family give 30 days' notice.
I am sharing this because, as a mom, I believe parents deserve to know before entrusting their children to this facility—we certainly wish we knew before we enrolled our child. I strongly recommend avoiding this place as an option for your childcare needs, as safety and overall well-being do not seem to be priorities. For any parent thinking of enrolling your child at this facility, please do your research and know that it 1) is not quality rated, 2) does not carry insurance, and 3) has a history.
