Comedy is fun but...

Is just me or the writers didn't know what to do with the route? For a route called "comedy" there are not much jokes overall. The first half is serious most of the time where Takumi completes boring missions for the rest of the SDU, so instead of comedy feels like the "nothing happens" route. There is even an oddly serious scene where Eva cries since she can't remember anything and... why? This is called "comedy", make goofy and funny stuff, not this.

Even after the choices begin around day 50 and the jokes start, it feels very inconsistent. Some branches throws at you a lot of jokes like the "try to not laugh" or the "smartass syndrome", and others just do barely nothing and have thousand of free times, like the writers saying they run out of ideas for jokes.

I don't dislike the route, I appreciate the attempt of making something different and when the route is funny, it makes me laugh a lot, but I think the route could have been way funnier and have much better pacing, because when I'm not laughing, I just get inmediately bored because nothing is happening.

Do you have any commanders headcanons?

We don't know much about these guys, so I'm curious to know what theories or headcanon you have about them

Potential dynamics I want to see in the DLC

Gaku and Darumi: These two already had relevance in zombie slasher but not too much, I want to see more interactions with them, it sure will be fun.

Darumi and Yugamu: Two weird (and freaky) blue haired characters, need I say more? That moment where they laughed together at the end of 055 was very cute, I wonder how they would interact knowing their different opinions about killing.

Kyoshika, Kurara and Kamyuhn: It's a crime those two never met Kamyuhn in any route. I'm pretty sure they will give us really good interaction because how different their personalities are.

Takemaru and Moko: Two big, buff and friendly characters who love training, it's weird how they didn't interacted much in the routes.

Unbrainwashed Eva and... anyone: Her normal self only has an established relationship with Takumi, Shouma and Nozomi (If I'm not mistaken). I want to see how she acts with everyone else. The same I can say about V'ehxness. Despite being sisters, her relationship has not been expanded that much thanks of her constant brainwashing.

The twins and Gaku: It's very funny how much the Tsukumos make fun of Gaku, but I want to see more, especially considering Gaku's relationship with his siblings.

Gaku and Kurara: I think those two have so much potential for great dynamics and scenes, after all they are complete opposites regarding backstories and personality.

These are all the dynamics I though about, if you have more please comment them.

A long post about predictable deaths

I'm not against predictable deaths, in fact, I normally prefer them over unexpected deaths you didn't see coming, and now I'm gonna explain why.

I know sometimes it's so on-the-nose a certain character is gonna die (like >!ibuki!< in SDR2 and >!miu!< in V3) but is only natural. Since they are about to die, the game wants you to spend most of your time with them, so their inevitable deaths could hurt you more.

Also, normally those characters already showed their full potential and are no longer necessary at the story, so you will feel bad because they were great characters, not because "they died too soon". So yeah, their deaths were predictable, but at least they left an impact in the players.

I don't like unexpected deaths that much, because most of the time those characters ended up being wasted and not reaching their full potential or completing their respective arc, and there is a good example in every game.

First I'm gonna talk about >!kiyotaka's!< death in THH. This one piss me off, sure, is unexpected and you probably didn't see it coming... but was it really the best choice? Was the best choice killing off the character who was dealing with grief and remorse by his friend's death and could have had a heartwarming conclusion for his arc? If you wanted to kill him, then fine, but at least make me feel his death was earned and gave the character a good conclusion

The same I can say about >!hiyoko!< in SDR2. Do you know why she is so hated? Most of the players just remember her as an annoying brat who bullied Mikan and nothing else, and that's thanks to her random and anticlimactic death. I know having two arcs about a mean person becoming better would have been repetitive, but come on, there were better ways of killing off that character without feeling "hey that was abrupt, wasn't it?"

And the last victim I'm gonna talk is >!rantaro!< in V3, the biggest example of "killing off the character because it will be shocking and unexpected". Look, I know a character like him needed to die soon because of plot and lore reasons, but again, was this the best way of killing him? He barely did nothing in chapter 1, he was just a chill guy who sometimes said ominous things, then he says he's gonna end the game, refuses to elaborate and... dies? Dude you had like 5 minutes of screentime, why did you die like this???

To conclude, I know predictable deaths annoys a lot of people, but I sincerely prefer a predictable but well-written death, than an unexpected but half-cooked death. I want a death make me say "Nooo why did you die, I liked you" instead of "What? You died? You deserved more screentime, man".

I'm gonna miss the goofy 3D models

The new models look amazing and are so much better, but I admit these ones had a lot of charm, I especially love their goofy faces, just look at them

I'm tired of hearing this "criticism"

Everytime someone says they dislike P3, always one of their arguments is that "nothing happens until october" and really piss me off.

Obviously the game takes its time for the actual great and amazing stuff, but those quiet and uneventful months are important so the second half of the game hits you harder.

The whole point is that SEES think everything will be over when they defeat the 12 main shadows that appear monthly, and makes you believe the same too. Thanks to that mundane routine that you already got used to, all the things that happen october forward like the major deaths and the crazy revelations are really shocking, because you didn't expect the story to take a drastic turn of events.

And saying "nothing happens" is just generalizing, because there a lot of important moments in the first half. What about Mitsuru revealing the origin of tartarus and the shadows? What about Yukari's scene at the beach? What about SEES meeting Strega and Junpei meeting Chidori? All these scenes are really important and build up future events, or do you think >!shinjiro's!< death at october or >!ikutsuki's!< betrayal at november would be the same without the first half?

Also, this stupid argument can be used for any other game that takes its time to reveal the best moments. Using that logic, in P4 nothing happens until november because the only thing you do is rescue people from the TV and catch obvious red herrings, but apparently no one complains that in P4 (this is not a slander I love P4 so much)

To summarize, it's valid if you didn't like the slow pacing and found boring the first half of the game, but saying that "nothing happens" is because you didn't care about the story or you didn't pay attention.

This bad ending is terrifying

All the bad endings of this game are messed up, but the worst one is without a doubt the "accomplice ending", which is one of the best bad endings I've ever seen

The start of the ending is already messed up, because Yu decided to protect Adachi after all the time they spent together. Maybe he didn't want to suspect him, so instead just gave up and the case was "closed".

Then we have the conversation with Adachi at march 20th, an absolute unnerving scene, because we are talking with a serial killer after all. Adachi plays dumb at first, but after seeing Yu's insistance that he was on his side, Adachi "tested" that trust, and gave him the threatening letter to burn it, the only evidence who could accuse Adachi from being a suspect. Yu knew doing this would be a betrayal of everything he and his friends did during the year... but he burn the letter anyway.

With the only incriminating evidence eliminated, Adachi finally shows his true colors, being surprised after Yu's decision, and gaining his trust. So what does Adachi do? He records Yu's number, telling him that "if this phone calls, you better pick up", and saying it will be useless to change number. And with that you finally complete Adachi's social link, a scene that in any other context is a very satisfying moment, but this time it becomes chilling, especially with the words "Yu forged a bond that cannot be broken"

Just think for a moment how Yu feels after this ending. He commited a terrible mistake, betrayed his friends and protected the culprit, and now he considers Yu his partner, and will be always watching him, no matter if he leaves Inaba and comes back at his home at the end. You can feel this in the final cutscene, where Yu grips his phone tightly, like if he was saying "What have I done...?"

I never had so much urgency in any videogame

I love Nanako, she is one of my favorite characters of the franchise, to the point I actually treat her like she was my little sister irl.

When I found out she was the next victim we had to rescue, I was so devastated. She was always there for me, she greeted me every night I returned to home, and I completed her social link and Dojima one. So I inmediately entered the TV and saved Nanako the first damn day, something I never did with the other victims because I'm lazy, but not this time. I was gonna save her as quickly as I could, no matter how hard the boss was.

God I love this game so much

If hundred line's cast had arcanas from tarot cards

The title is self-explanatory, I gave every major character of the game an arcana from the tarot cards like persona, according to their personality and motivations. If you have better suggestions for an arcana please comment. Reposted because the full image was too large lol

Which moments would you like to be explored as a choice in the DLC?

I have a few suggestions about some decisions that might be interesting for the DLC:

-Defeat Eito before he hills Hiruko in route 0

-Prevent Eva to escape and kidnap Ima

-Save Murvrum (any route)

-Prevent Kako to kill Eva in blessings/calamity

Do you have more ideas?

What if the SDU had evil shadows like Persona 4

To anyone who hasn't played that game, there are evil shadows of the main characters who portrays the hidden aspects of their personalities, their true "self" who always hide from everyone else, and who they need to accept in order to madure and move on from their struggles. I really liked that idea so I adapted it to the hundred line's cast.

Something funny about Tenko

This is not a criticism, I just thought this contrast was funny

My favorite moment from each route

Route 0: days 94 and 95, all the revelations and deaths are some of the best parts of the whole game

2nd scenario: apart from the ending, I really liked the final V'ehxness battle, it was so epic and decisive

Reset: the fact Sirei gave everyone in the reset perfect backstories was kinda wholesome ngl

Goodbye Eito: the ending, it was very emotional and made me feel so sad about him

Rebellion: Kamyuhn telling everyone about Eva and how she forgives them

Eva: I kinda liked the moment Eito and Nozomi helped Takumi to free Eva from her cell

Multiple Eitos: ending 009, still one of the most brutal endings of the game

Serial battles: Shion's crashout to Eito was really cool, I want to see that side of him more in the DLC

Conspiracy: well... I guess ending 022 wasn't bad

Box of blessings: Shouma gaining courage and determination to fight V'ehxness. That's my boy

Box of calamity: Eva's ghost returning to the village and seeing her daughter again

Cult of Takumi: ending 042, yeah it's fucking horrifying, and that's why I love it

V'ehxness: ending 044, one of my favorite endings

Coming-of-age: the training montage in the beach, and Nozomi and Kurara making up

Retsnom: Darumi saving Takumi from V'ehxness using her mutated arm

S.F: ending 059 was very strong and emotional

Romance: Tsubasa's ending, I'm sorry I love Takubasa

Slasher: ending 072, this is self explanatory

Comedy: Takumi's big crashout in 081

Killing game: Takumi killing the futurans to save Tsubasa, and her killing Eito later

Mystery: Takumi saving Ima in the commanders base

Honestly, I really enjoyed the ENG dub, it obviosly has its flaws, but it gave us a lot of incredible performances from characters like Takumi, Tsubasa or Darumi.

I don't dislike Kako and Hiruko's voices, but in moments where the characters are desperate and show intense emotions, their performances are kinda lacking.

And about Eva... this is most about her character and not her VA, but it's so unfortunate that we couldn't listen her full potential because 95% of her lines are just the "I will kill invaders" bs. I'm sorry, is just too uncomfortable for me.

u/Memo137 — 2 months ago

I'm gonna mod my own route inside the game, but not just any route. It's gonna be called..."The Pacifist Route"

The plot starts simple, because now Takumi will spare the commanders life one by one, he wants to talk to them and try to stop the war peacefully, but it won't be an easy task at all, because many obstacles will appear in the SDU's way, and they will find out so many shocking revelations.

This route will be like a "3rd scenario" with no branches, just a big route from day 2 to 100 (or maybe even more days), with new fights and characters, trying to expande hundred line's universe and give both Futurum and the SDU a happy ending.

Obviously this will be insanely hard and I will need a lot of stuff, but still I want to do this, it's my new passion and dream, and I want to make it true.

So... what do you think? I'll try to advance slowly on this project and I'm gonna give you teasers about what I'm planning.
