Why does gimp export photos darker?

For some reason when I edit a pic on GIMP and export it, it is wayyy darker than it was originally. How do I go about fixing this? (I have no idea what 90% of the stuff means so a “dumb” explanation would be helpful 😂)
Attached is what the photo looks like in gimp NO EDITS AT ALL and then what it looks like exported still with NO EDITS.
Any help is greatly appreciated

  1. Is what it looks like fresh into GIMP
  2. Is what the box looks like when I export
  3. Is the exported pic with no edits at all

How to fix gimp making photos darker after exporting?

Hey everyone I just finished added a few small edits to this lady slipper pic my gramp took a while ago and everytime I export it it comes out wayyyy darker idk what I did? I did the same edits I normally do (exposure, saturation, scales, level and then a vignette) I attached a ss of gimp and then the photo after I exported it.

Gimp darkening photos after exporting

EDIT: after going back to the export page to get a ss for a commenter I said why not and exported it again and changed the file type and opened it in darktable and it seems like now it is the “original” way I had it once I finished editing (no dark filter or lowered exposure)
Thank you all for the help if I run into this again I know where to look!

Noise reduction ways, cheating/cheap or no?

Hi everyone I just kinda wanted to know everyone’s opinions on using a software to remove noise from images (most I’ve seen are AI powered, and yes I don’t like AI very much so don’t even start)
I do macro photography (just picking it back up after losing my grandpa who taught got me into it) and a lot of the time I don’t have enough light and I don’t have a good light to add to my camera yet so a lot of my pictures (especially my dart frogs) have a lot of noise. I put one through a noise remover and it looks wonderful and exactly how it did irl but I feel like it’s cheating or I’ll be seen as… idk.? A wannabe..?
Any input you have about this topic is greatly appreciated!
(Yes I would like to get my light triangle mastered but I got some really good pics today 😂) and sorry for any grammar mistakes.

Photo editing suggestions to make subject pop?

I’ve just started getting back into photography and learning how to edit photos.
What are some tips you would give to a noob? This is mostly for a hobby and not a profit I just like to capture moments of my pets.
Any help is appreciated! I use GIMP with the photogimp add on for editing right now.

Add editing preset for photo gimp add on?

Hey everyone I just started getting back into photography (mostly macros of frogs and bugs) and Im using gimp with the photogimp add on to learn to edit. Mostly because I’m a broke college student and I’m not gonna pay for a subscription since this isn’t my job just a hobby, with that being said is there a way to add a preset to gimp? A lot of the photos of my fart frogs I took need basically the same edits (with their own minor adjustments) and I thought a preset would make it easier.
I’m a total noob and have no idea what the hell I’m doin😂 YouTube has been my teacher but there’s only so many useful videos

Dendrobates auratus

I have two unknown sex Dendrobates auratus (green and bronze specifically) and was wondering if there is a different morph..(?) (I think is the right word as I don’t want a whole different species) to keep with them. I’ve been looking around and checking out different things about morphs of this type but it’s honestly all so confusing.
I just really want another one or two to add in, so they add a bit more character and a slight change in color difference.
I know the green and bronze have slight different shades and patterning and that is my backup option.

Tank mates

Hello everyone! I have (I think) a 75 gallon planted tank with 2 angels, 2 opaline gouramis, pearl gourami, Chinese algae eater, 3 zebra loaches, and a few random mollies. I have no fighting or aggression everyone seems to be happy and living life!
What would be some good tank mates for these guys to help add more color variation?
Bonus if they are cleanup crew but are active!
Also, would any type(s) of shrimp work? I’ve always wanted to add some but idk if the angels would eat them.

7 month bioactive dart frog vivarium update!

Hey figured I’d show how my dart frog tank is coming along I finished it back in October and it has been booming since! (Ignore the fan in the top it was there for circulation while everything started up and I haven’t taken it out😂 yes it’s off)
This houses 2 green and bronze dart frogs, not sure on the sex but I really hope it’s a pair as I want to get into breeding a few so I have a couple more (and I might do another build once I move🫣) if someone thinks they can sex them that would be great! idk if they are too young I have no idea how old they were when I got them in November, but they couldn’t have been more than 3-4 months at that time. I can add pics to the comments of them both!
