I hate the Dexcom G7.
So I'm autistic, type one diabetic, and I overheat in my sleep and wake up sweaty every single time. I don't like change. I wear my G6 sensors on my abdomen. They're not making g6 anymore, and I'm out of them now after yet another sensor failure message on warmup. So, I've had to switch to one of my G7s and I'm already enraged by it. I can't have it on my abdomen. It has to go on the back of my arm. I am clumsy and walk into things constantly, and I am physically disabled with back issues, and can barely even reach where it wants me to put it. My girlfriend had to help me insert this stupid sensor. Oh, and don't get it wet or sweat for the first 12 hours of use? Guess I just don't get to sleep at all today.
In conclusion, I can't wear the sensor where it has always been safest anymore, and I am also now less independent as a diabetic than I was before, all because the powers that be seem to hate me, personally. I hate the G7 as it currently exists. Dexcom doesn't seem to take our actual lived experience into account when they design these things. I'm so tired and so angry. I want to go back to G6 so badly but I can't because they just do not exist anymore. Why do we type ones get shafted at every turn? Why do type twos get to take a stupid pill and get better? Why does type one even still exist anymore when I know for a fact it could be cured in a snap if anyone actually cared to cure it? I'm finally understanding why type one diabetics are eligible for the MAID program. I'm so tired of this disease. I've had it for 20 years, since I was 9, and it's only gotten harder for me to handle over time. I'm burnt out, and now they're taking away the thing that I was comfortable using.
