How do you remember all the books you’ve read?

This might be a silly question, but how do you all remember the books you’ve read so well? I’ve read a lot of historical romances over the years, and whenever someone asks for recommendations, my mind goes completely blank. I know I’ve read books that fit exactly what they’re looking for, but I can’t remember the titles, authors, or even enough of the plot to suggest them. Even scrolling through my Goodreads “Read” shelf doesn’t help much because it’s just a long list of titles that don’t always jog my memory.

Do you keep notes, use tags or shelves, have an amazing memory, or is there some other system that works for you? I’d love to hear how everyone keeps track of books, not just so I can recommend them to others, but so I can easily find them again myself.

Edit on 22/07:
Thank you all for the amazing comments! I’m going through every single one and taking notes. 😊 I love seeing all the different ways you keep track of the books you’ve read. I’m definitely inspired to try your techniques and see which works best for me. And to everyone who admitted they don’t remember anything after finishing a book.. thank you for making me feel a lot less alone. 😂 Really appreciate everyone who took the time to share!

Looking for immersive historical romance set in Europe or Russia

Does anyone have any romance recommendations set in historical Europe or Russia?

I’d love something set in medieval Europe, the Renaissance, or medieval/Tsarist Russia. My favorite books are the ones where the setting feels so vivid that it feels like you’re wandering through snowy streets, castles, palaces, churches, villages, bustling markets, or travelling across the countryside.
I’m especially drawn to stories with rich world-building - culture, architecture, politics, court life, traditions, and everyday life all woven into the story, rather than simply using the location as a backdrop.

The romance should be central, but I’d also enjoy court intrigue, espionage, political drama, mystery, or adventure, or even romance retellings, if it has that same immersive atmosphere.

I’m basically after a book that makes you feel completely transported to another time and place. Any recommendations?
