Metabolic Pathways??

Hi guys,

Which are the highest yield metabolic pathways that we need to know for the MCAT?? Should I only know Glycolysis, Gluconeogenesis, TCA, and ETC?? I am not aiming for a 528... I am only aiming for at least a 500-505... Please let me know exactly what I need to know in order to save time instead of memorizing every single little detail for stuff that won't even show up on the exam. I am referring to Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex, Fatty Acid Oxidation (Beta Oxidation) and all of the rest.

Latest to Apply for DO if MCAT not taken yet?

Hey guys,

I’m applying to only DO programs for this cycle (2026-2027) and was wondering when the latest to take the MCAT would be allowed to still be considered on time for DO apps?? My exam is scheduled for July 31st… is that fine?? I don’t have a previous MCAT score or attempt. Just wondering how late can you take an MCAT and be considered for admission.

Hi everyone,

I’m planning to submit my application to LECOM for this next cycle (Fall 2027) through AACOMAS and wanted to get some honest feedback on my chances. FYI I am a Nontrad, Male, 26 Y/O, would be turning 28 upon matriculation...

Stats:

  • B.A. in Psychology from NYU (2022)
    • Cumulative GPA: 3.436
    • Science GPA: ~3.2–3.3
  • MPH from NYU (2025)
    • GPA: 3.5

Clinical Experience:

  • 2000+ hours as a full-time Ophthalmic Technician (2023–2024)
  • ~2 years total as a medical scribe (two separate positions)
  • 8 months volunteering at NYC Health + Hospitals
  • Shadowed 6 physicians between 2017–2025

I have NOT taken the MCAT yet and was considering applying to LECOM using my AIS instead (estimated around 122–123). When I spoke with an admissions representative back in February, they mentioned that a 122 is considered competitive, and that having an MPH could help strengthen my application. I will still be taking the MCAT in July, however, given that LECOM still had available seats in February, and I was encouraged to apply even with just an AIS alone, I decided not to since I wanted to wait to apply early in this next cycle, so my chances will be better.

I’m planning to submit my application as early as possible, ideally this week. LECOM is my top choice, especially since I have family in PA

Main questions:

  • How competitive do I realistically look for LECOM with these stats?
  • Has anyone here had success applying with AIS instead of an MCAT?
  • Do you think taking the MCAT would significantly improve my chances, or is AIS enough in my case?

Would really appreciate any honest insight or advice. Thanks in advance!
